Pro-‘Gay’
Religious
‘Leaders’
DID YOU know a recent
survey of religious leaders in
America stated that 850 “holy
men” who lead an assortment of
mainline denominations back
homosexual marriages?
You miil;t be saying: “Wait,
these can't Ba;ptxsts, United
Methodists — my faith’s religious
leaders, could it?”
Unfortunately, the answer is
that {)our denomination might
have been included.
The endorsers of decadent
behavior included presidents
and deans of 15 protestant semi
naries, the president of the
United Churcg of Christ, Episco
palians and Unitarians.
A FEW years ago, I told you
about efforts in Hawaii to pass a
same-sex marriage bill. I re
ceived several calls%rom many of
{ou saying such a vote would
ikely never come to pass in
America. ; .
One of you said I was being
a “azealot reactionist.” I was sur
prised that that reader knew
what those words meant.
Well, I wasn't one of those
folks but just someone reporting
the facts. E
Fortunately, that proposal
failed in Hawaii in 1998 ang that
state’s Supreme Court shot down
a homosexual marriage court
case in late 1999.
ALASKA VOTED 2-1
against homosexual marriages in
1998, although the American
Civil Liberties Union is still ac
tive on the issue in court there.
Yet, a 1998 lawsuit filed in
Vermont by three homosexual
couples seeking to marry appears
to be pendin%.
And, Colorado’s governor
vetoed an anti-homosexual mar
riage bill in mid-1997.
Plus, petitions are being col
lected in Colorado and Nevada
by “gay” activists to push for a
vote.
Proposals that would ap
prove homosexual marriages are
on their way to Georgia, too.
THROUGH my squeaky
newspaper print, I can alread'f'
hear many of you saying, “that’ll
never hagpen here.
Yeah, you said that about
public prayer being banned from
schools, too, didn’t you? :
If homosexuals keep push
ing, it won’t be long before it will
be the norm in man{ states for
some fellow to legally stand up
and introduce the guy sitting
next to him in this manner, “I'm
Bill Smith and this is my wife,
Joshua.”
PROPOSITION 22,
which would disapprove “fy"
marriages, is on the March 7 bal
lot in California.
When you think of it in
terms of the fact that one-eighth
of the country is being asked to
vote on this anti-homosexual
“lifestyle” issue, it's more than
sobering to me.
California is our most popu
lous state with one-eighth of the
nation’s people and we all know
it has an undeniably large visible
homosexual popu{ation, espe
cially in San Francisco. .
If this measure fails on the
West Coast, it would affect ho
mosexual politics in all other
states.
MEANWHILE, the decla
ration from 850 “ministers” pro
moted the acceptance of “gay”
pulpit preachers by all denomi
nations, also. That's downright
decadent.
Most of you local solid Bap
tists and United Methodists are
having a hard time with that one,
aren’t you?
I doubt seriously that
United Methodists in Chattooga
Counr{ would ever have imag
ined that your church fathers
would now be dealing with indi
vidual churches that want to
rati'fy “gay” marriages. Well, they
are!
It's not just United Method
ists who are being asked to ac
cept “gay” marriages. Presbyte
rians, Baptists and other de
nominations are being pushed to
OK homosexual unions.
BESIDES homosexuality,
those maverick “ministers” also
came out in favor of e%:oen access
to abortion and sex education at
all levels (pre-kindergarten
next?). They orpose
“unsustainable population
growth” and “the commercial
exploitation of sexuality” (that
one’s OK). They’re against all
forms of “sexual oppression.”
Therefore, bestiality agpears to
be acceptable to those folks.
Some denominations threw
“hissy fits” about the endorse
ment of “gay' marriages. They
were Buddhists, Roman Catho
lics, Muslims, the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints,
Hindus, evangelicals and black
Protestants.
However, 25 so-called
“Christian” denominations :‘u.p
