Noncompliance Notification
Sanitary Sewer Overflow
On February 1, 2000, just before sunup the Trion
WPCP main sewer line feeding the plant had an over
flow of raw sewage of less than 10,000 gallons due
to a mechanical failure. This discharge entered
Chappel Creek about 200 yards before it enters the
Chattooga River. Steps have been taken to prevent
this mechanical failure from happening again.

Officer Kenneth Parker said he
was summoned to a Second
Street residence early Friday
morning by a woman who said
she heard two small children cry
ing outside her apartment.

pair, who said they awoke and
couldn’t find their mother, the
report stated.

Alltel Exchange Wireless
Phone Service Areas
The Alltel Corp., which Ero
vides telephone service to Chat
toog]z: County, announced this
week that it would exchange
wireless (cell phone) systems
with GTE (which used to serve
Chattooga) and Bell Atlantic in
13 states, making Alltel the
fourth biggest wireless company
in the country.
Nothinghin Georgia will be
involved in the swaé), said Alltel
officials at its headquarters in
Little Rock, Ark.
Before too long, Alltel’s
wireless telephone customers
will be able to travel to locations
served by Vodafone Air Touch
and be charged discounted
prices. Alltel will have about
770,000 new customers as a re
sult of the deal this week for a

Alltel doesn’t provide wire
less service in Georgia yet, how
ever.
Both Air Touch and
Bell South Mobility serve the
Chattooga County area and
much of Northwest Georgia.
Bell South, which is not involved
in the deal, has about 5.3-million
customers.
