Sealed Bid Notice
Pursuant to an act of the legislature, HB No. 414
(Georgia Laws 1956, Page 2899, as amended),
sealed bids will be received by the Chattooga
County Commissioner. Said bids must be sealed
with the words “Sealed Bid” written across the out
side of the envelope and received in the office of the
Commissioner in the Chattooga County Courthouse
Annex, Summerville, Georgia, on or before 10
o‘clock a.m. Friday, March 10, 2000, at which time
bids will be opened.
The Commissioner reserves the right to purchase
any or all items on bid at the offered price. Also, the
Commissioner reserves the right to reject any and all
bids.
We are asking bids on meals to feed Chattooga
County jail inmates. The meals are to be furnished
three times daily and are to be picked up by Sheriff’s
Department personnel at approximately 7:30 a.m.,
12 noon, and 5:30 p.m. daily. The number of meals
will vary from day to day and will be called in to the
provider by the Sheriff’'s Department at approxi
mately 7 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 5 p.m. At present,
approximately 50 inmates are incarcerated; howev
er, this number will vary. Coffee or milk shall be
made available to be served with breakfast; coffee
or tea is to be served with the other two meals.
There shall be no more than seven (7) hours
between meals. The diet shall conform to the
Georgia Dietetic Association Diet Manual and shall
include a minimum of 3,100 calories daily. The
provider shall furnish to the Commissioner, in
advance, weekly meal plans and menus which have
been approved in writing by a licensed or registered
dietician or nutritionist. The provider shall furnish
written certification from such dietician or nutrition
ist to the Commissioner. The provider shall furnish
drinking cups, eating utensils, and individual packets
of salt and pepper with this service. The service
shall be on a ninety (90) day agreement which
includes all holidays within that ninety (90) day peri
od and shall begin on Thursday, March 16, 2000.

STATUS

healthy, he would have run the
year that Hoyt (Williams) ran for
mayor.”
Malloy Hankins ran against
Mayor Woods in the 1976 elec
tion. He was defeated when
Woods captured 308 votes and
Hankins’ 279.
In the next election, Mayor
Woods defeated now-incumbent
Mayor Don Hayes. Ma‘\;or
Woods captured 285 votes then
while Hayes earned 260 ballots.
Hayes in 1982 went on to be
elected Chattooga County super
intendent of schools.
Hayes ran in 1998 and won
the mayoral post.

He was deacon at the Trion
First Baptist Church, president
of the Baptist Brotherhood, a
one-time president of the Trion
Lions Club, secretaéy of the Trion
Communi?' Foundation Inc., a
member of the Riegel Quarter
Century Club and a member of
the 50-Yard Club.
Mayor Woods was born on
May 20, 1913 in Chattooga
County. He was son of the late
Thomas Frazier and Effie Lee
Johnson Woods. His wife, the
former Laura Neil Hammond
Woods, died earlier.
