A Sylvania colored woman who pash
ed a white lady off the sidewalk has
been sentenced to pay a fine of twenty
five dollars, serve ten days in jail, and
placed under a bond of three hundred
dollars to answer to a chargi of assault
and battery at the next term of the Su
perior Court. The colored women of
the town are said to have become very
insulting and aggressive of late.

Editor Akgus:—The Teachers Insti
tute will begin its work the first day of
August and continue just four weeks.
It will be held for the whites in Dalton
Female College building, and for the col
ored people at the c< urt-house. In th?
meantime the executive committee
and citizens of Dalten must get ready for
it . Sufficient boarding accommodations
must be secured and published at once
that those Vylio wish to come may do
so intelligently. Whatever differences
of opinion may prevail on subject of ed
ucation and the Iwst methods of promot
ing it, there can be but one opinion as
to the value of the Teachers’ Institute.
It is a clear gain, a direct, unqualified
gift to the teachers and patrons of the
private as well as public schools.
Let all who wish Loaders make known
their wishes at once to the executive
committee and reasonable rates. These
rates must at once be put before the
public.
