The only interest the Akops has in
the city election next Wednesday, is
that which may be fairly expressed by
the words of Grover Cleveland as mayor i
of Buffalo, in a veto message, an oppor
tunity for which is offerred every vear,
iu our midst. His golden words read :
“I cannot rid myself of the idea that
this city government, in its relations to
the tax payers, is a business establish
ment, and that it is put into out hands
to be conducted upon business princi- I
pies.”
The prime questions to be considered ;
in the selection of the new administra
tioe, as to the men who offer as candi- ,
dates are they capable, honest and with -
out selfish motive for themselves or oth
er private interests? Have they prom
ised particular results or patronage, for
support, to individuals? Do they in
ten I to farm out the patronage of city
laborers, as a basis of their employment,
rather than an honest and faithful day’s
work, and a square cash yayffient ior
the same? These are matters not to
be lost sight of by honest voters. We
want no false economy, but a bold, pro
gressive administration that can show
a fair return for every dollar invested.
Plain Questions.
Mythical ideas are fanning tile public
brow with the breath of prejudice, ig
norance or humbuggery. Have yoh the
remotest idea that your scrofula was
created by the use of potash and mer
< ury? No matter what ti e cause, B. B
B. is the peer oi allot er remedies. Do
you presume thpt your troublesome ca
tarrh is the result of mineral poisoning?
I>. B. B. is the quickest remedy. Are
vour chronic ulcers, boils and sores, the
result of potash ami mercury ? Medical
rentleman will not tell you so,but 8.8. B
is the only sovereign remedy. Were your
terrible kidney troubles created by min
'■ral poisoning? Not a bitof it, but B. B.
I*, has proven to be a reliable remedy.
Are your skin diseases,your eczema,dry
tetter, etc., the effect of too much pot
ash and mercury? The medical profes
sion are the best judges, and they say
nay, but B. B. B. makes more pronoun
ced cures than all other preparations
t ombined.

A bill has been presented before the
legislature looking to the early sale of
the state railroad, foz a sum of not less
than $6,000,000. We hope the provision
will be ratified. The road should be
sold and the money applied to the pay
ment of our Slate debt. We pay nearly
8500.000 interest annually. The rental
of the state road is only $300,000. The
toatl is more likely to depreciste than
appreciate in value. Now is a good
time to sell, because there are those who
want it. It has been the one Llot upon
our state politics. It has been the
means cf political traffic, bossism, and
terrorism to its employees, as voters.
We want no more of it in our politics,
and hope it will never go back into the
hands of the state. We want to see the
state out of debt, and the sale of it will
come near paying us out.
£asy to See Through.
How can a w atch —no matter how cos
tly—be expected to go when the main
spring won’toperate? How can any one
be well when his stomach, liver or kid—
nevs are out of order? Os course you
say, “lie cannot.” Yet thousands of
people drag along miserably in that con
dition; not sick abed, but notable to
work with comfort and energy. How
foolish, when a bottle or twoof Parker’s
Tonic would set them all right. Try it,
and get back your health and spirits.
Notice is hereby given that application
will be made to the Legislature for an
amendment to the Local Option Law for
Whitfield county, Georgia, so as to al
low an election in the 627th Dist. G. M.
known as the Tilton District, so as to
permit a vote independent of other dis
tricts, under the present restrictions of
law now in force. Tilton, Ga., Nov. 23.

AN AGED BAPTIST MINISTER.
Two more Important Cases.
Your agent being in Columbus, Ga., a
few days ago, and meeting the venerable
brother J. H. Campbell, we asked him
tor the news. His reply was, ‘‘l have ■
two more important cures effected by
Swif’s Specific to report.” This venera- |
ble man is known far wide for his unre- ’
mitting labors of love in the behalf of
the poor of Columbus. It will be re
membered that the Swift Specific Co. '
has donated quite an amount of their
famous medicine, to be distributed by
Mr. Campbell among the poor of the,
city ; hence his remark. He said :
‘‘l have just seen a lady who has been
greatly a'unoyed by a Tetter in one of
her hands. It had given her rfinch
trouble and pain. She said she had
been treated by several physicians dur- '
ing the past three or four years w ith the i
old remedies, hut without giving anv re
lief. 1 suggested Swift’s Specific, and
she took tour four bottles and isnowap- j
parentlv perfectly well. Her hand is ;
smooth and not a single sign of the dis
ease left. It is marvelous how this med
icine renovates the system.”
‘‘What about the other case?”
‘‘Well that was a lady also. She had !
been affected with the eczema for four i
years. Her face, hands and arms, as i
well as her body, was covered over with ,
sores and scabs. It was one of the worst I
cases of this terrible disease that I have
ever seen. The sufiering of the poor j
creature was beyond expession. She |
tried every remedy at command, inclu- I
ding mercury and iodide of potash, but I
she only grew worse. She was in this
condition when I first saw the case. I
soon had her taking two bottles, but ev
ery mark of the disease has almost en
tirely disappeared. Her strength and
general health have greatly improved.
It is one oi the most remarkable cures
that has come under my observation.
“Mr. Campbell, you have had a long
and varied experience in mingling with
j men, and observing their afflictions and
the remedies used—what is your opin
ion as to the merits of Swift's Speci
fic?”
“In a ministry of sixty years I have
mingled with every class of society, and
have observed closely the variety of dis
eases which afflict humanity. Blood
I diseases are the most numerous and the
most difficult to romove. In my earlier
life, Sand-,’ Sarsaparilla was the great
blood purifier. Many other have come
| to the surface, but it is my deliberate
I judgment that Swift’s Specific is the
grandest blood purifier ever discovered.
, There is nothing comparab'e to it.
rhere is nothin* too good to sttv about
Sw itt.’s Specific.”

Dear Argus:—The whole country

Frightful Catarrh.
Pieces of Bone.
For four years I have been afflicted with a
very troublesome catarrh of the head. So
terrible has its nature been that when I blew
my nose small pieces of bone would frequent
ly come out of my mouth and nose. The dis
charge was copious, and at times exceedingly
offensive. My blood became so Impure that
my general health was greatly impaired, with
poor appetite and worse digestion.
Numerous medicines were used without
relief, until I began the use of B. B. 8., and
three bottles acted almost like magic. Since
their use not a symptom has returned, and y
feel in every way quite restored to health. I
am an old citizen of Atlanta, and refer to al
most any one living in Butler street, and more
particularly to Dr. L. M. Gillam, who knows
of my case. Mrs. ELIZABETH KNOTT.
