Wyoming was taken up, but laid aside for a dis
cussion of Mr. Call's right to use the Record for
a personal explanation which Mr. Ingalls
charged to be iu part a deliberate falsification
of what had occurred. Pending discussion of
the Wyoming bill the Senate adjourned.

House—Mr. Dockery, of Missouri, rising to a
parliamentary inquiry, asked whether it would
be in order to reconsider the vote by which the
postal clerks’leave bill was passed yesterday.
He had been informed yesterday by the gentle
man who called up the bill [Mr. Ketcham (N.
Y.)J that it did not involve an appropriation,
whereas he now learned that it would
involve an expenditure of 8310.0'0. As Mr.
Ketcham was not present, Mr. Dockery was
permitted by unanimous consent to enter a mo

present. The consideration of the election bill
was then resumed, the speakers being Messrs.

the annual appropriations for thirty days after
the fiscal year (if the appropriation bills have
not then become law), was reported by Mr. Al
lison and passed.
House—Mr. Breckinridge (Ky.) presented

of 18-41-1) )in pro rata amounts. Passed.
Washington. July I.—Senate. —At the close
Os Mr. Vance's speech against the Idaho bill,
the bill was passed without a division. A mes

House having declined to confer further with
the Senate, the only alternative left was either
to let the bill fail or to recede from its amend

motion gave rise to a long discussion. Finally
the vote was taken, and the Senate, by yeas 19.

The Senate proceeded to executive business
and soon adjourned.

The Pride of Matrimony.
In his recently published “Trials of a
Country Parson,” Dr. Jessupp tells some
amusing anecdotes picked up in Arcady.
As thus: "It is very shocking to a sen
sitive person to hear the way in which
the old people speak of their dead wives
or husbands exactly as if they had been
horses or dogs. They are always proud
of having been married more than once.
‘You didn’t think. Miss, as I’d had five
wives, now, did you? Ah, but I have,
though—least ways I buried five on ’em
in the churchyard, that 1 did—and tree
on ’em bewties!’ On another occasion I
playfully suggested: ‘Don’t you mix up
your husbands now and then, Mrs. Page,
when you talk about them?’ ‘Well, to

my third husband, he was a man! I
