he is now a resident here. He said
among other things:
"1 11011 t know of anything that would
help Dalton more than a good, well-man
aged annual fair.’*
“How would you start about it?
“Why, it is simple enough! Ten or
more gentlemen in Dalton could get, to
gether and determine to have it. Thu
rest of the programme would be easily
arranged. Ma ing up their minds is
half the battle,
“I believe there are ten men interested
sufficiently fn the growth of Dalton to
make a canvass for the fair. At least. I
judge so from their public utterances in
the past. Land cun be Ixiiight cheap for
or on time, or leased someiv here
close to town, on both the railroads. A
good race track can be made at a small
cost, a large plain rough lumber struct

and finally, as a result, we bunt up

“T he fair, to be a success must 'tie un
der way, so tar as the premium list is
conceited, by the first’of Janmiry, as 1
learn that many farmers are thinking of
growing tobacco, and a premium tor it
might stimulate the cultivation of that
crop, Y oit.can t get the premium list

It is to be hoped that Cok Spencer’s
idea will be taken up at once by a dozen

would be a great thing for this city ajid
