REAL GONS
HON. GORDON LEE EXPECTS TO I
SECURE CARBINES FOR DAL
TON COMPANY AT NOMINAL
COST.
Mr. W. M. Sapp, who has charge
of the Boy Scouts at Dalton, is en
deavoring to get guns for his company
and it is quite likely that carbines
will be supplied them at a nominal
cost by the government.
Mr. Sapp took the matter up some
time ago with Hon. Gordon Lee, con
gressman from this district and he
has received a reply from Mr. Lee
stating that while it would be hardly
possible to seeeure these arms free,
he believes that it can be arranged to
get carbines at a purely nominal cost
and this will in all probability be
done.
It is also planned to put the scouts
in uniform and these uniforms will
be secured in the near future.

He Didn’t Know It Was Wrong
Atlanta, Feb. 20—Here is a sane
man who claims he didn’t know it was
wrong to keep a S6OO diamond brooch
which he found. G. S. Sutton picked
up the jewel. It had been lost in the
Piedmont hotel. He was caught with
it at a local jewel’s trying to see what
it was worth. There was no evidence
pV that he had tried to conceal his find
so he was released by the recorder.

Kill More Than Wild Beasts.
The number of people killed yearly
by wild beasts don’t approach the
vast number killed by disease germs.
No life is safe from their attacks.
They’re in air, water, dust and even
food. But grand protection is offer
ed by Electric Bitters, which destroy
and expel these dreadful disease
germs from the system. That’s why
chills, fever and ague, all malarial
and many blood diseases yield prompt
ly to this wonderful blood purifier.
Try them and enjoy the glorious
health and new strength they’ll give
you. Money back, if not satisfied.

DALTON FIREMEN,

TALLADEGA WANTS TO REOR
GANIZE TENNESSEE-GEORGIA
ALABAMA VOLUNTEER FIRE
MEN’S ASSOCIATION.
Talladega, Ala., wants to reorganize
the Georgia-Alabama-Tennessee Vol
unteer Firemen’s association and to
hold an annual tournament in that
city this summer. Chief W. H. Per
ry, of the Dalton Fire Department, has
received a letter to that effect, which
is as follows:
Chief of Fire Department, Dalton, Ga.
Dear Sir: —The Talladega Fire De
partment has decided that it is about
time to re-organize our association and
we beieve that you will agree with us.
With this idea in view we have decided
if we can get at least six companies
to co-operate with us we will give a
tournament in Talladega about the
middle of May of this year and we pro
mise you in advance one of the best
entertainments of the kind you have
ever witnessed.
If you agree with us, get together
and advise us promptly if you will at
tend and the probable number of mem
bers you will bring. We expect to
have the usual prizes and as this will
be expensive to us, we want to know
just where we stand before we an
nounce the date of the meeting. When
we have positive notice from at least
five companies that they will attend,
we will advise you as to date, prizes,
“extras,” etc.
Yours very truly,
F. R. FRANKS, Chairman.
P. S.—You will be welcome and can
compete for the prizes whether you
join the Association or not.
Speaking for the Dalton Fire De
partment, Chief Perry says that they
will not participate in the re-organiza
tion of the asociation as the members
of the Dalton department are now
members of the Georgia State Fire
men’s Association which will meet in
Rome in May, which meeting the local
firemen hope to attend.
The Dalton Fire Department with
drew from the Georgia-Alabama-Tenn
essee association about five years ago,
and since that time have been a mem
ber of the State Association.

Mrs. Mary Wimpee Recently Killed
a Porker Which Weighed 520 ,
Pounds Net, at 18-Months Old.
Mrs. Mary Wimpee, a well known
Whitfield county lady, still believes
raising hogs is profitable. She re
cently killed two, the largest weigh
ing 520 pounds, net, and was only
eighteen months old.
Ilog raising used to be one of the
most important industries in Georgia,
but very little attention is paid to
raising them at present, regardless of
the high prices they bring.
It would pay others to profit by the
example of this lady. Raising what [
