TO GET NEW
CONTRACTOR
BOARD OF EDUCATION WILL FI
GURE WITH NEXT LOWEST
BIDDER ON NORTH DALTON
SCHOOL—BRANDON OUT.
The contract for the construction of
the North Dalton public school build
ing. which was to have been built by
Contractor D. F. Brandon, of Chat
tanooga, will in all likelihood be let
to one of the other bidders today or
tomorrow.
Mr. Brandon, who, as stated in
Tuesday’s Daily Argus, desires to be
eliminated from the transaction, has,
according to information received to
day, secured a temporary restraining
order in the Chattanooga courts,
which will keep the Chattanooga
bank from paying the check for <ssoo
which he filed with his hid.
The hearing it is said will come up
at the August term of court and there
fore the question of whether or not the
city can collect his check will not be
decided for some time to come.
Mr. Brandon was the bidder whose ,
figures were accepted on May 27, when
the lettting took place and his check
for SSOO was filed with his bid. Now -
that he is out of it, the board will
proceed to let the contract to some- £
one j|lse.
There were several other bidders at
the original letting whose figures were
low enough to place them in a posi
tion where they can figure with the
board of education and the matter
will be taken up with one or more
of them.
If the next lowest bidder can come
to terms with the board lie may build
the new structure.
The board is engaged today in going
over the plans with contractors and
it is believed that a decision will be
reached shortly.
