EDITOR WALKER
WANTS IO SEE
DALTON GROW
AN EDITORIAL PARAGRAPH IN
SUNDAY TIMES SHOWS A COR
DIAL FEELING TOWARD THIS
SECTION—WILL COME TO THE
COUNTY FAIR.
Hon. L. G. Walker, editor-in-chief
of te Chattanooga Times, recognizes
the community of interest between
that city and the North Georgia ter
ritory. Here is what he said yester
day:
Dalton Argus:
Now that the rule nisis have
been boxed for the winter season
how would it do to invite the ed
itor of the Chattanooga Times to
come down and be a guest of the
. Whitfield county fair in October?
We are sure that gentleman
would enjoy a day. at least,
among the good old-fashioned
country folks that have made this
section bloom and blossom as the
rose.
By all means invite him and he will
come. The Chattanooga Times has a
warm spot for Dalton and its good
people, because that city and its tri
butary county has borne a large part
in adding to the culture, progress and
prosperity of Chattanooga. This
newspaper wants to see Dalton grow
and increase in wealth, and it stands
ready to help the Whitfield county
fair in every way it can. We want
to see the Dalton-Chattanooga boule
vard completed at as early a day as
possible, and then we want the Chat
tanooga Electric Railway company,
among the first things it does after it
installs its great Ocoee electric plant,
to build an interurban trolley line be
tween Chattanooga and Dalton, so
that the friendly relations between
us and that city may be cemented
closely and for all time.
SIGNING THE PETITION
Friends of Good Roads Down at
Tilton Wants Convicts to Work.
A correspondent of the Daily and
Weekly Argus called this morning to
say that the people of Tilton and
surrounding country appreciate the
efforts of these papers in whooping
up good roads and at the same time
to complain of the one particularly
bad place in the public road just the
other side of the Tom Cox place. The
Argus desires to say that Judge
Bogle sent a competent man down
there this week to make an estimate
of what a concrete culvert would cost
for that very spot and will recom
mend to the commissioners that one
be built. The Judge is awake to the
conditions of every bad place in
Whitfield’s roads and if he had the
money they would be fixed. The call
er told the Argus man that the people
in Tilton and all around that section
were signing the petition for getting
convicts for work on the roads.
