HOW YOU MAY HELP.
1— -.u T
Every reader of the Argus is cor
dially asked to read this issue care
fully, get its contents fixed in their
minds then send it to some far away
friend or acquaintence.
Both the Daily and Weekly Sub
scribers will get a copy, numbering
about 2.800 in all. That number sent
away will wndoubtedly be:means of
doing a world of good for Dalton and.
Whitfield county.
Several extra copies have been
printed and if you wish to send others
off call and buv one.
OUR THANKS.
This issue of the Argus consists of
five thousand copies.
Twothousand of them are to be taken
to Chicago by Secretary Frank T. Rey
nolds of the Dalton Chamber of Com
.nerce, and for which that body pays.
We make that statement because
that live and enterprising institution
makes it possible for the Argus to in
crease its circulation to that point.
We are also indebted to the adver
. *
risers for their liberal patronage.
Their generosity is but another indica
tion-that they are standing by all that
goes to make Dalton such an enter
prising city. They believe in Dalton
and Dalton institutions.
Mr. Reynolds goes to attend the
annual land show in the colliseum
at Chicago and the Argus hereby a
grees to stand by everything he tells
the people whom he meets there and
we urge every one of them, who is so
luckily chances‘to get a copy of this
issue, to consult Mr. Reynolds fully
and often and the nmake up their mind
to come “Down South in Dixie”
where the proprietor of this paper
has come to from Illlinois but only six
months ago and found things just as
they are represented in this paper and
in fact the many good things this
section offers to the great number of
westerners are not half told and can
not be told in cold type.
Respectfully.
R. A. JOHNSTONE.

THANKSGIVING.
The proprietor and employes of the
Argus acknowledge their thanks to
evry advertiser in this issue for their
generous patronage.
This is Thanksgiving Day and while
many, if indeed not all of us. have
more or less sorrow in our family cir
cle yet all have cause for thanks.
Time there are vacant seats at every
fireside, that in our mutability, we
mightwish filled yet a Providence that
shapes our ends, rough hewn them as
may, will provide. Maketh us to lie
down by the still waters and in
green pastures. He tempers the
wind to the shorn lamb and a more
implicit trust in his wisdom for us
■would smoothe our paths and soften
our pillows as we go down the hill
of life. Therefoore, let this day be
given over to one of real thankfulness
■—temperate and thoughtful. Look
about you and you will find cause
for rejoicing. A fitting close for to
day would be to read Longfellow's
Psalm of Life and ponder the lines:
Then let us be up and doing
With a heart for any fate,
Still achieving, still persuing,
Learn to labor and to wait,
Then turn to the Twenty Second
Psalm of David and commit it to
memory and your heart to God.
