Dec. 18—The quiet little town of Orchard Hill was awakened at 4 o’clock Friday morning by a deafening explosion, which shook the earth around the postoffice. On inves tigation it was found that the post office had been burglarized and that the government was short about $75. About sls worth of railway tickets were also missing from the Central of Georgia ticket office, which is in the same building. Sheriff L. D. Hutson was notified and the arrest of a young man by the name of Kettles, who had been work ing about town, resulted. The sheriff stated that when arrested Kettles had in his possession three keyhole saws, a quantity of nitroglycerine and two sticks of dynamite, “The remains of that mastodon,’’ said the scientist in the museum, “were found buried in an iceberg.” “H’m,” responded the man from Chicago, t‘that cold storage idea isn’t so new after all.” —(Washington Star.
