From the last Gainesville Eagle
we learn that a petition has been pre
sented to to the Ordinary of Hall
county, to refuse to issue any mota
licenses for the sale of liquor at Lula.
The petition was signed by ail the
offlotrs of the Air-Line and Norths
eastern railroads, and by numbers of
tha best oitixens of that county. The
Ordinary has decided to grant the
petition, and benoeforlh there will be
no more liquor told at Lola unless in
violation of law. The railroad au
thorities gave their reasons as foltows:
lsL It is tbe junction of the North
eastern Railroad with the Riohmond
A Danville Railroad, and neecturily
beoomes a point where passengers are
compelled to remain oter for arrival
of trains, rendering it nnplcasrat and
haiardoni to do ao daring the drunk
en icenes that ao frequently occur.
2d. The railroad companies are now
endeavoring to establish a respectable
eating bout* at that point but oannot
subject their passengers to the liabili
ty of insult and danger inoident to
tree use of strong drink at that plaae.
8d. The reputation of the town,
county and pnblio morals are endan
gered, and prosperity, ao promising
:o othor sections, (having not at good
railroad facilities) wilt never be en
joyed by this favored location nntil
a reform takes pise* in this ;«rtiou.

We are glad to note the above
facta—a* donbtten every lover of or
der and morality will be.
