A telegram from the Washington weather bureau says the thermometer will fall to thirty-two within twenty- four hours. Athens has been afflicted with ail open air minstrel show for the past few days. There is a haunted house in Athens, in which strange sounds can be heard any time at night. The Phi-Kappa Society will hold a memorial exercise Saturday, in honor of the late Henry W. Grady, who was a member of the Society. Grass is beginning to cover the lawns of Athens with a verdant carpet, which might bo termed a plain ease of crowd ing the season. The college boys have marked out their courts, and revived the game with a lively interest. New pupils continue to pass into the city schools. Athens has never seen such flourishing schools as now. A number of capitalists are contem plating buying up Athens real estate in preparation for the big boom that is expected to come in the spring.
