of the rock 1 pulled np the rope and un
tied the tools. 1 then sat down near the
edge of the rock to ketch my breath’,

single glance the charmin' scene armed

There was the beautifulynminer moon
dancin’ on the face o’ the Biackwater. 1
could also see her bright bamee failin'
over the glorious fields o’ yellow groin,
and from the ruined. castle behind my
back I could hear the noise o’ the bat,
the owl an’ the jackdaws, that were
gain* to roost for the night In the nooks
and crannies ef the broken walls. Then
I thought 1 could hear the strangest
music cornin' from tbe party green
grove, bat I found out that it was only
the light summer winds ringin' their
way through the trees. At lost I rose
up, lighted my lanthem, and set out like
another. Columbus on my voyage of dis
covery around the castle rains. After
gropin' my way for a few minits, what
dy’e think tripped me np, but the round
white stone mentioned in the quare
drames o’ my three friends. There it
was as plain as a pike staff beside n bit
o’ brushwood within about a yard o’
