Deputy Sheriff Killed by a Desperado.
Fbbvakdina, Fla., May 19.—A ne- j
gro named Murray, who has long been
a terror here, killed Deputy Sheriff Joe
Robinson this morning, wounded a po
liceman and pnt a posse of six men to
flight. 1 hey bad attempted to arrest
him. He made a successful resistance
to capture last week when he was cor
nered. Sheriff O’Neal and a posse are
in pursuit of him, and feeling is so
strong agaiot him that there is talk ot
lynching him if hels caught.

Over in tbe Free State Sunday oc
curred a negro killing, in which a com
mon old rock was the weapon used.
Will Tabor, colored, was passing out of
Madison county into Franklin, and on
bis route to he had to cross Jones’
bridge. He went across the bridge and
jnst as he reached the other side, be met
a negro man who ordered him to stop.
Tabor did not stop, when the negro
man attempted to draw his pistol.
This oost tbe negro his life, for Tabor
grabbing np a rook burled it at tbe
strange negro with all bis strength.
The negro fell, and died in a few min
utes. His skull bad been crushed.
Tabor skipped for parts unknown.

THIRTY MEN KILLED.
A Car Load of Dynamite Explodes.
Tauytown, N. Y., May it.—[Spe
cial-]—A car laden with dynamite to be
used In bleating along tbe Hudson river
railroad, suddenly exploded a few miles
below here this morning, wrecking
everything in the vicinity, tearing up
all the tracks of the road, and blowing
to atom*, it is reporr.d, thirty m*»h.
The load of dynamite was on a flat
car in a construction train. This was
the cause of tbe disaster.
Tbe bodies of eight Italians and two
Americans .were picked up and carried
to the station here. •
A large number of people were injur
ed.
It is impossible to tell how the acci
dent originated. ,
