A SUDDEN ATTACK.
Judge
Howell Cobb Stricken With
Vertigo Yesterday.
Yesterday morning about half pas:
eleven o’clock, Judge Howell Cobb was
out in hit garden transplanting some
plant* and net thinking of any impend
ing danger. His little boy, Carlisle,
was with him.
Suddenly he reeled and fell to tbe
ground, and the little boy went running
into the house to tell his mother that
his father bad fallen down in the gar
den and oouldn’t get up.
Mrs. Cobb hurried into the garden
and was terribly surprised to find tbe
Judge lu an unconscious condition.
Help was summoned and he was re
moved into tbe bouse, after which a
physician was sent for.
It was nearly half an hour before Dr
Gerdlne arrived at the house, and tbe
family of Judge Cobb were terribly ex
cited, because during that time he had
not regained consciousness.
Tbe report had gained circulation
throughout the city that be had been
strioken with paralysis, but an exami
nation by the physicians proved that
it waa nothing more than a very severe
attack of vertigo, oaused by biliousness.
In a short while after tbe return of
tbe physician, Judge Cobb regained
oonsciousueas and commenced to im
prove, and last night was thoroughly
out of danger.

A solemn hath pervades tbe air,and all
isquhit and peaceful on the University
campus today. The mirth and jollity
of the student is stilled, and sorrow
trails her sable garments o’er the love
ly graen.
In every heart there sits enthroned
the goddtsi of grief and sadness, for
the death angel has been there- A no
ble heart baa been stilled forever, a
warm and generous hand lies pulseless
upon his silent breast—Major Charles
Morris has gone to answer the king
roll otll of eternity.
In the early hours of yesterday
morning, surrounded by his family,
thoroughly conscious of his approach
ing death, and holding fast to tbe faith
in which he bad served bia Master so
long and so well, he passed away from
the caree and sorrows of earth into tbe
presence of the King of Kings.
The news of his death will carry sor
row to the hearts and homes of thous
ands of Georgians today, and in far off
Virginia, where in young manhood he
contributed muoh to the glory of that
commonwealth, scores of true hearts
will mourn him dead.
Throughout this Empire State, wher
ever is found a graduate of tbe Univer
sity of Georgia oi post-bellum days,
there will drop upon his cheek the un
bidden tear of grief, and sorrowful in
its deepest sense will be the intelligence
that dear old Major Morris is no more
