H« Is Now the Letdfns Republican As
pirant for Presidential Honors.
CoLUMnus, June 9.—The nomination
of William McKinley, Jr., for governor
of Ohio, to succeed himself, is regarded
by every one as the first step toward in
augurating the boom that will bear bis
name before the next national Republi
can convention and seenre his nomina
tion for the presidency in 1896.
It seems well understood that Mc
Kinley’s nomination is only the start in
this direction and whatever opposition
there may have been here apparently
failed to organize its forces against the
famous governor, or, with a chivalry
worthy the occasion, has been unwill
ing to take such an nngracions part.
The tatter hypothesis finds some con
firmation in the fact that no name, not
even that of McKinley, wrought a
greater whirlwind of appiause in the
convention than that of McKinley’s old
time rival, ex-Governor Foraker. The
mention of Foraker was in a brief ad
dress at the very outset of the proceed
ings. the speaker being Chairman F. S.
Purcell of the Republican state central
committee, who was calling the meet
ing to order. Instantly the enthusiasm
found vent in the wildest cheering,
NERVOUS DYSPEPSIA.
Senator James F. Pierce, of New York
writes:
“For the past two years I have suf
fered very much from an aggravated
form of nervous dyspepsia. I have re
sorted to various remedial agents,deriv
ing but little benefit. A few mouths
sines a friend of mine suggested the
trial of Allcock’s Porous Pla-tbbl
Following the suggestion, I have been
using the same with the happiest effects.
To those similarly afflicted let me sug
gest the manner of their use. I place
one over my stomach, one over the
hepatic region, and one on my back.
The effect is excellent. From the day
I commenced their use have been slow
ly but surely improving, and am quite
confident that by continuing I ahall
again be restored to my accustomed
health.’’
Morgan Hack from Abroad.
New Yoitx, June 9.—Banker J.Pier-

the Majestic. The moment the vessel
reached her dock Mr. Morgan got into
a cab and was driven away. At bis
homo it was said that he had gone to
the country. Mr. Morgan is understood
to have tried, whild abroad, to ascer
tain the sentiment of foreign capitalists
as to the purchase of United States gov
ernment bonds, in case the secretary of
the treasury determined to issue them
in exchange for gold.
The French Afraid of Our Securities.
Boston, June 9.—Ex-Minister T.
Jefferson iCoolidgo has returned home
from Franco. He says that Frenchmen
are so alarmed over the financial situa
tion in the United States that thor have
withdrawn many American invest

alarm, Mr. Coolidge says, is to repeal
the Sherman act.
