Macon, On., Jane 14.—Things are
still stirred np in Msoon over the Huff
—Alien—Price controversy. While
there Is little danger of < aduel < veanlting,
there may be some personal esoounters.
The card of, Mr. Hoff in regard to
Measrs. Price and Allen baa been wide
ly commented on, and the general sen
timent is that it Js no credit to itaau-
tbor to have indulged in euch-epithets
as he need, especially in view of his be
ing an ez-Mayor of Macon and an ex
representative of Bibb county.
Messrs. Prioe and Allen are prepar
ing a statement for the press, .which
promises to be as lively as Mr. Huff’s
card.
Below is given \
mb. Burr’s CARD.
On reoeiptof this note from Allen 1
determined st once to bold both Allen
and Prioe responsible for the two edito
rials, and securing a cowhide, I wont at
onoe, accompanied by my son Walter,
to the Telegraph office, and found Al
len and Price standing together in the
door of the stairway leading to the edi
torial rooms upstairs. I stepped close
ly up to these two infamous slanderers
and asked them if they would kindly
step oat of their own door onto the
sidewalk so 1 could cowhide them.
They crouchingly' declined, but offered
no sort of resistance whatever. The)
actually conquered me by their own
. pitiful and tame submission. I then
told them they must go to their edito
rial room, where I would denounce
them, without any disturbance or an
noyance to the people on the sidewalk.
This they reluotantly consented to do
Ithen marched them up their own
stairway and into their own editorial
room, and closing the door on them I
denounced these two sourrilons scoun
drels individually, separately and col
lectively, until I was actually sorry for
the pusillanimous puppies. I begged
them to go out on the street with me, or
anywhere else, where I could cowhide
them. They deolined. 1 then begged
them to say something in my presence
that would half way justify mein strik
ing them in their own offioe. But not
one word of reply could I get from ei
ther of the dirty dogs, but cringing and

GREAT CROWDS COMMENCEMENT GREETING. 1
IN OLD TIMES
SEEN
WILL BE
ON NEXT WEDNESDAY.
Wednesday of commencement week
promisee to throw all previous record*
of crowds in the shade. The college
exercises will be more than usually in
teresting and diplomas will be confe red
on a very popular class.
To sdd to the interest, several enter
prising eitizena have arranged for tw.
big games of base ball, one between tb«
crack teams of Harmony Grove. an
Crawford, and the other between At
lanta and Athens.
These games will!*) for blood, sne
will be hotly contested from beginning
to end; that they will pack the base
ball park, goes without saying. Lota
of people will come to town who will
not take In either the college exercises
or the sports, bat will meet friend*
whom they have not seen in months, *
that the day will have all the feature
of the old-time commencement.
Athens will enjoy the stir and bustle
of the crowds from country and town.
A special rate, of one fare for the
round trip, good from Tuesday to Fr>-
dsy inclusive, has been arranged for on
all railroads running into the city, and
a number of oar citizens have written
their out-of-town friends to take ad
vantage of the cheap fare; to make them
a visit and enioy the many attractions
that Athena will offer them.
•Nt is the duty of every Athenian to
contribute to the success of commence
ment.
I propose making the discharge of my
duties in this direction of prac
tical and material benefit to the partic
ipants. I want to say to the young men
that I am prepared to sell them their
imenoement wearing apparel, viz ,
Clothing, Hats, White Vests, Lawn
Ties and all styles and grades of Neck
wear; in fact all their furnishings at
most advantageous prices.
My stook u complete with fashion'
able and attractive goods peculiarly
salted to commencement dress, new
and stylish.
This is the season that a college boy
has to curtail his expenditures; it u
I o’b* season that he is inclined to
zeroise his most fastidious taste. I
:-n afford them marked assistance in
both these efforts, and practical advan
tages that are easily apparent.

But the Athens Boys Say They Will
Get Thera Today.
Yesterday's game between Crawford
ind Athena was one of the best of the
season, and outside of the first inning
was a perfect game.
Manager John S okeley had an exoel-
lent team in the field for Crawford and
the familiar form of Pete Wilson ap
peared in the box. And the Athens
hoys didn't do much with him either.
Outside of the first inning, Goodrum
pitched a superb game fur Athene and
held the visitor* down to a very few
hits daring the game.
