The Accident that Befell a
Well Digger Yesterday—
He Was Pretty Badly
Hurt
Yesterday morning Abe Toliver,
a negro well digger, came very near
losing hit life while blaming in a well
oa Prinoe avenue.
He was at work on a well on the lot
of Mr. W. H.Davu on Prinoe nvenne,
and yesterday morning went down in
the well to commence wprk. __
When he reaohed bottom he wm at
once overpowered by a strong gas of
some kind, and tried to get out the best
way he could.
He succeeded in getting about eight
feet toward the top of this weU when
his strength gsve oat and he fell back
with a despairing cry.
His head struck first, and as the bot
tom of the well was foil of jagged
rocks, the fall was quite a serious one.
A negro near by who heard him when
he cried oat, ran to hia aaaistanoe.
The negro went down |nto the well,

drew him up to the top. > His injuries

stir np strife or animosity, I wish to
make a statement of the facta connected
with the unfortunate trouble which
arose between two ministers of the
gospel at the tent a few days ago.

Abbott in a friendly way and told him

this way, that we were all Christians,
or at least believers (in Christ) with.the
head, and there wm no one in our lodge
who would object to the name of Christ
and that there was not likely to be, and
while we were talking brother England
came np and shook hands across in
front of me m 1 wm sitting between
them, and I remarked tft brother Bog-
land that we were jnst discussing
secret societies. Then brother Eng
land grew a little more animated
and aaid yea, I supposed he was attend-
ing to me in hia aermon. I then said,
"Why Brother England, I didn’t know
you wm a member of any secret so
ciety.” Brother Abbott then said had
you not aeen this? taking hold of a
Masonic badge which suspended from
brother England’s watoh chain. "I
said no I didn’t know you were s Ma
