Workman. v
The old town hall on Washington
street has at last been turned intoe
business that will not only pay but be
one of tbe permanent institutions of
Athene. It bas lately been run as a
livery stable, and now all the stalls
have been knecked out and the bright
iigbt of the tlscksmitb’d forge and the
hammer and saw can ba beard. The
Athens Carriage and Wagon Works
have opened up and is managed and
operated by th* most experienced men
who understand every part of the
haBiness. All of the parties, as well as
-he employees of this establish
ment, have been in tbe employ of Kleio
A Martin for a number of years.
Mr. F. S. Patat is trimmer for this
firm, and when be gets through with a
boggy it is no nse for any other trim
mer to mike any improvements,
Mr. J. N. Marbury puts the paint on
the wagous, buggies and carriages. He
has a number of year’s experience in
this business and bis work is spoken of
by all who are judges that it is as good
or better than can be done in any other
city in the South.
H. X Pstat manages the blacksmith
department, and wbat be don’t know
about a piece of work and how to ham
mer It into shape, is not worth know
ing.
J. W. Benson does the wood work in
the wagon and carriage works. Hr.
Benson is considered by all as a work
man that knows every department of
bis business, and sees to it that nothing
but the best timbers, without flaw or
breaks, goes into every part of the wag
ons and buggies.
Sam Kern is employed as the horse
shoer, and when Sam- gets through
trimming a horses hoof and fits a shoe
on him, there is no trouble about hav
ing him -shod again until the shoes are
worn completely out. The W - g in and
Carriage Works will make a -specialty
of horse sho.-ing, and will do every
thing in the r power to make it one of
the main features in their business.
The balance of the workmen ere all
men of experience who will do every
thing in their power to make the Ath
ens Carriage ard Wagon Works one of
the main industries of the city.
The place of business in on Washing
ton street, and whenever you want a
horse shod, a wagon or buggy repaired
or made new, go to the Athens Car
riage and Wagon Works and you will
be certain to call again.

that no other sort would suit

the fear, however, that the Toomer
folks would send it back, as they wan

The tleek rascal than purchased one

saying that “de hotel folks might send

Meantime, Mr. Wilson had
tbe bill for the goods

the money. But tbe rascally darkey
had passed on by tbe hotel, and no one
at that bouse knew anything of tbe

Mr.-Wilson is now a sadder and a
wiser man, and has sought consolation
by pouring tbe story of his troubles
into the ears of a friendly policeman.
And we hope that policeman will yet
find Mr. Wilson’s atiirp customer.
Mr. Van Pelt, Editor of the Craig

Hillsdale, Iowa, and asked the physi

that I concluded to oall on the physi

of the medicine. I was surprised when
he banded me a bottle of Chamberlain's
Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy.
He said he prescribed it regularly in

It has been currently reported that
the friends of Judge Hamilton Mc
