The Team is In Good Shape
And Victory Awaits The
Georgia Boys.— A
Good Game.
The ’Varsity foot tall eleven left yes
terday for Columbia, 3. C.
And this afternoon they will meet
the South Carolinians on the gridiron
with a determination to win the laurels
of the day.
The foot ball boys were sccompsnied
on their trip by trainer Winston, man
ager Moreno, and a number of citizens
who wanted to see the sport.
The team against which the Georgia
boys will be pitted will be that of
South Corolint, and the game will de
cide the inter-state ohampionship.
■ler.ee it will be a game of great in
terest.
The team from the Palmetto State
has on it some very dne athletes who
jave had cousiderabls training in the
irt and science of foot ball, and they
will interest the ’Varsity boys enough
jo make them fairly Uy themselves cut.
1 he’Varsity team is in good conu -
tlor, and the men were just enough on
their mettle from tne recent defeat at
the hands of Bewanee to make them
play good ball.
The team that went to Colombia was
made up as follows :
Center rush, Nally, who has demon-
trated his ability in many games.
Right guard, Kent, a young man of
splendid physique, and very aotive.
Left guard. Price, the heaviest man
on the team, and one who has recently
ceen added to the team.
Right tackle, Fleming, and left
tackle, Watkins, two heavy weights
who tight like tigers for victory.
F. Spain and W. bpain will be the
end men, and will do some beautiful
running.
Sneider as right half back, and But
ler as quarter back will do a great deal
of the head work of the team.
Btubbs will be full back, and will
guard tbe ’Varsity goal.

An old gr*)-he*uea negro mss, who
looked old enough to have been the real
son of Ham, had a narrow escape yes
terday.
He was walking placidly along
Broad street net dreaming of the fe
male cyclone that was moving with
terriflie speed and violtnoe toward him,
The old saying that “hell hath no
fury like a woman scorned,” applies
equally to a woman who is mad tbout
anything, and this negro woman was
mad.
She moved down upon the old fellow
liks a vulture after its prey.
"Oh yes, you old grsybeded Scoundal
said she, “I’ve got you at last, you’ve
been running from me a long ume, but
I’ll be even with you now.”
Tne old fellow looked amazed, but
the irate Ama/on continued, to berate
him.
“Where is the money you owe me,
sir ? Didn’t 1 draw water lor you, cut
your wood, hoe your corn, and look al
ter your stock: 1 Remember sir, all this
work was done last winter when the
snow was on tbe ground, and 1 was al
most barefooted.”
“Oh, you old gray-haired sinner, you
infernal devel i’ll kill you right
now.”
The enraged negress stooped down
and seized s huge rock, and raised it
over her head, in a moment it would
have descended upon the nead of the
defenseless old man, had not bystanders
interfered, and gone to his rescue.
Tbe merits of the woman’s case have
not been vended, but one thing is quite
certain, sne made it wins around that
comer for awhile.

A Reported Difference between Judge

The rumor was on the street yestei-

Gtorgia Factory, had notided Mr. R.
L. Bloomdeld, of tbe Athens Mauufat-

Georgia Factory.
Judge White was seen yesterday by a
reporter and said that he had sent nc

Of course if it should ue stopped to
any great extent he would object, but

Ovtf His Grave in Oconee
Cemetery—The Report that
He Was Buried by the
Uity Was Erroneous.
The report in yesterday’s uaue that
James Shewer, the dead atone cutter,
had been buried in potter’s field by the
city, was a mistake and doea an injus
tice to the comrades left behind him by
tbe deceased.
The report was received as authentic
bht the facta do not bear it out. The
stone cutters held a meeting Thursday
morning and determined to take the
burial of their comrade in hand.
They made up the necessary money
and had him buried decently on a lot
purchased by them for that purpose.
Mr. Fox, who had the matter in
charge, said that his friends were deter
mined to see that tbe body was interred
iu as decent and respectable manner aa
possible, and that was done. The dead
man sleeps his last sleep in Oconee cam
etery on a beautiiul lot purchased by
his friends and comrades.
The stone cutters will communicate
with the lather of the dead man and see
whether or not he wishes the remains
of nis son removed to hiB home in Scot
land.
If he does not, then they propoee to
erect a monument over his grave, each
one contributing his share towards its
construction.

THE LUXEMBOURG,
In sterling silver is the proper caper. It comes enameled and plain,
with and without the gold finish. It is not admired entirely, because it’s
a new fad. It’s beautiful and artistic, and to use a homely | hrase can
“ tote its own siillor.” It comes in the form of forks, spoons, carvers, etc.,
as well as in countless novelties, that the low price of silver ha* brongh
on the market. It is hardly necessary to say that we have them.
