When the south-bound train crowded
with passengers, palled up at the depot,
fifteen healthy, strong, athletic*

settled down in their seats to travel on
towards Spartanburg, S. C., at wbich
place they will try to inatruct the foot-

Democrats last Tuesday.
The Wafiord team is composed of
some very heavy men. Their line up will
outweigh the Georgia team’s by ten
pounds, bat what our boys lsok in
weight, they have made up in science;
and then that gritty determination to
do or die spirit, with which they play
foot-ball, telta the tale.
The returns of the result of the game
will be published in to-morrow’s paper,

Ki has been in Athens two or three )
years and be has made several friends
here among the colored people. It is
reported that Ki has saved up a little
money, and also that he sometimes
demonstrates to his friends that he used
to be a dead game ipou in China, for on
several occasions he has patronized the
dispensary and with a quart of corn
has figured in same lively “skates’’ over
in East Athens.
Yesterday morning Ki was sitting in
his shop reading tha latest news about
the China and Japan war and aeontely
congratulating himself that be was so
far removed from the attt of war, when
in walked Mr. Bailey, the eflloient
bailiff of Judge Foster’s court, and
when he handed Ki tbe legal papers
wbich was a Bail Trover warrant, aworo
out by Mr. W. V. Robert ton of Jaekaon
county, in which he claimed that Ki
had in bia possession unlawfully, fifteen
ooltara and eight pair of cuffs, veined
at $4.25 which he (Ki) refused to return
to the owner.
After Mr. Baily explained the nature
of the paper, Ki exhibited signs ot an
approaching dock fit and spatted oat
Chinese by the yard, Mr. Bailey
managed to convey to Ki’s mind that
although he had once studied Chinese
when a boy, he had failed to keep it up
as he ought to, and was consequently
ratty and unable to carry on intelli
gently such a spirited conversation aa
be Ki, was trying to ist.le oat. j
Peter Hawkins colored, a friend of
Ki, came to Mr. Bailey’s assistance and
explained to the celestial that he would
have to go dowu to Judge Foster’s
court aud give bond, Ki assented to
this and they ail went down to Jadm
Foster’s room in tbe Deapree build
ing.
Ki olsimed that he had returned to
Mr. Robertson the collars and cuffs,
and so ha was unable to prodnoe them
in court, Judge Foster requested him
