Oliver Coleman, Mgr.
No. 5 Jackson Street.
‘•Yesterday a stalwart man, with a
searching eye, a heavy gray moustache
and a strangely familiar look came into
the den. It did not take a moment after
lie spoke to recogouizo Colonel A1 Fair-
brother. one of the most unique and
versatile figures in the national field of
journalism for the last several decades
"Ho brought an advance copy of
‘Everything,’ a new monthly magazine
for which he stands sponsor and whioh
begins to issue from Atlanta with its
May number.
“The magazine will be almost wholly
a Fairbrothcr production—original
sparkling and personally emphatio and
piquant. Colonel Fairhrother is a quiok
observer and a ginger snap commenta
tor, and any subject current in the
world life that ho tackles he is sure to
make either hum or Bparkle. He is more
philosophic than Fra Elbertu*, of the
Philistine, and more daringly picturesque
iu expression than Colonel Pat Djnan
He does not agree with the conventions
by a long shot, and conservative people
do not agree with him by a whole shot
tower ou many occasions. Bat he iB as
honest as spring water and as sanitary
on most subjects as sunlight.
"While he edited notable daily jour
nals at Durham, iu North Carolina, and
at Lynchburg and Danville, in the Old
Dominion, there was "something did
ding" iu those towns all the time and
Fairbrothcr was always right in the
middle of the ruons.
But age and experience have curbed
his audaciousness aud he has become a
sort of Carlylian sage—acrid aud anathe-
matie, if need be, or sympathetic aud
soothing when sorrow or wrong demand
his helping voice or hand.
We consider it quite an episode for
congratulation that Colonel At has con
cluded to become ono of the factors of
the journalism and enterprises of At
lanta. He has set the type himself on
nis beautifully urranged magazine,
print- d it with his own hands, and given
to the literature of the south a thoroughly
novel and interesting publication. We
bespeak for it the popularity it will de
serve—the success it will merit by sn
perior excellence."
GRATITUDE.
Dr H. Mozley—Doar Sir: Since using yonr Lemon Elixir I have never had
another attack of those fearful sick headaches, and thank God that I have at last
found a medicine that will care those awfai spells.

MR. HOLDER
HAS ARRIVED.
Prof. Geo. E. Daunels, principal of the
High school at SiBtervillo, W. Vn , has
the following to say of Prof. Patty's
Liquid Air entertainment in his town :
"The greatest treat of the season in
the way of entertainment and iustruc
tion was the lecture and demonstration
by Prof. W. B. Patty. There was an
abundant supply of Liqnid Air on hand,
and every experiment and demonstra
lion, besides some new ones not down
on t no bills, was performed exactly
advertised. To say the audience was
astonished Is putting it mildly. They
eagerly followed each step of the plat
form experimontB, and when the lectnre
was over they departed with relnetance
Prof. Patty is a delightful speaker, tells
a hnmorons story when needed to fitly
illustrate a point, is thoroughly conver
sant with his snbject and relates the
marvelous facts about Liquid Air iu
terms aud laDgnage any one can under
stand. He leaves the audience feeling
they have not listened to a dry, pedan
tic dissertation of an unfathomable
theme, but that they have met a friend
who made them wiser than they were,
and whom they will oheerfnlly welcome
again next season if it may be oar good
fortune to seoure him.”
This entertainment will be given at
the opera house here on next. Friday
evening. Admission 50 oents. Tickets
on sale at Palmer & Sons’ drug storo.

Here’s an odd claim
as the “true system
of refrigeration:”
“The air passes over the ice,
under the ice aud around the ice,
depositing thereon any and all im
purities gathered from the pro
vision chamber.
Well, who on eaith wants
his food cooled by air that
comes from an ice chamber
made foul by odors from
highly scanted articles in the
provision chamber?
That’s just what spoils so
much milk and butter ; just
why your old-style refrigera
