Now that the election is over it is
time for the price of cotton to take
an upward move.
There was a social party at the
hospitable home of Mr. and Mrs. J.
T. Stendham Friday night. The
following were those in attendance :
Misses Charlie Brooks, Mary Stead-
ham, Eva line Jordan ; Messrs.
thur Smith, Stendham, of Rowena,
nmPBarbre and Griffin, from near
Hugh Brooks and John Coleman,
of Damascus, went 'possum hunting
Friday night. They had very good
luck, catching three 'possums and a
polecat. When they started home
they got lost in Big Pon l and some
chance? passer-by heard them sing¬
ing: “We won't go home 'till morn¬
ing.”
The many friends of Mr. and Mrs.
Sweet Sikes are congratulating them
upon the arrival of a sweet young
lady who arrived Friday afternoon.
Dr. Ward bad a runaway Friday
afternoon near hero, his horse de¬
molishing his buggy Iwidlj". He
borrowed Mr. Bike’s buggy and
started again when the horse broke
the cross-piece to the buggy. Then
lie bad to take the Ankle Express
for borne.
Mr. and Mrs. E. L>. Taylor were
shopping in Arlington Saturday.
Mr. W. O. Duke has been quite
sick the past week, but we learn
that he is convalescing very nicely.
Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Armstrong, of
Bonifay, Fla., are on a visit to their
daughter, Mrs. J. A. Gassott.
Mr. J. B. Stendham, of Edison,
came down Saturday afternoon and
spent Sunday with his brother, Mr.
J. T. Stendham who returned home
with him in the afternoon.
Mr. John Steadham is grinding
cane.

sonic burial here last Sunday a week

Old Aunt Clicncy Dunwoody an
aged and respected colored woman
who for 40 years or more has lived
in a little log cabin in front of the
Baptist church, died last Tuesday.
Site had been ill for several months.
Miss Hattie Bull, of Albany, spent
a few days last week with her
mother, Mrs. Hand, who is real sick.
Married, last Thursday morning
at 9 o’clock at the home of the
bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. W.
Adams, Mr. 0. W. Twitty and Miss
Cnssie Adams were united in the
holy bonds of matrimony, Rev.
Snider, ol Colquit, performing the
ceremony in tin* presence of only
the relatives of the contracting par¬
ties. The groom is one of our most
brilliant, upright and noble young
men, while the bride was the most
lovable and refined character with
all the charms and. accomplishments
of a lovable woman. May the dark
