NEWS FROM OUR
DIXON SCHOOL HOUSE
We have had plenty of rain this
winter, but we hope to see some bet
ter weather soon for it is time Mr.
Farmer was at work.
Miss Addie Hicks has been confined
to her room flu, but is able to be
out again.
Mr. Luther Mathis, who has been
working in Atlanta, has come home to
help his son make a crop.
- ‘Mr. Luther Matthis and son Clyde,
made a business trip to Atlanta last
Monday.
There will he preaching at this
place next Saturday night and Sun
day morning. Mr. Huckbee of At
lanta, will conduct the services.
Mr. Clyde Matthis spent Saturday
lnight with Luther Turley, of Lost
Mountain. —Fannie.
PINE MOUNTAIN ACADEMY
It looks as if the farmers were
going to get a late start on their
crops. I rains so much that we can’t
get our Irish potatoes and spring
onions planted.
The sick of our community are all
better at this writing except Mrs.
Will Robinson, she is not doing much
good. We hope for her a speedy re
covery.
Mr. Edd Hooks and family visited
Mr. Will Robinson and family Sunday
afternoon.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. Scaff a fine
boy last Thursday night.
Mrs. Ruby McDaniell is on the sick
list this week. Hope she will soon be
better.
Several cars are being bought by
men around here. Look out! girls,
somebody is going to take a ride.
Miss Nannie and Ellie Campbell
spent Sunday with Misses Smith.
Mr. Robert McCollum and Mr. El
bert Compton had a narrow escape
from being seriously hurt by a mule
running away, turning their buggy
over and throwing them out, but
neither was seriously hurt,
~ Let everybody remember that next
Sunday night is prayer meeting night
and this place. Everybody come.
Mr. Will Griggs spent a few days
with home folks last week and Mr.
J. P. Kemp returned to Atlanta with
him on business.
Mr. Oliver Phillips was over to see
Mr. J. P. Kemp last Wednesday night.
Mr. and Mrs. George Kemp were so
kind to remember Mr. Jim Scaff and
family, while in town Saturday, and
brought them a box of groceries,
which was much appreciated. Let
others do likewise, we must not for
get the sick. —Black Eyes.
ORANGE HILL
Rev. F. M. Lacy filled his regular
appointment at this place Sunday but
due to illness in his family he omitted
our evening service. We hope for
them a speedy recovery.
Because of the influenza situation
here, school closed for three week’s,
but opened Monday, with Miss Gladys
Lindley, of near Macland ,teacher,
as heretofore.
Mr. Pink Wallace is in Marietta
at the Benson Sanitarium under
going an operation. At this writing
he is slightly improved and we hope
that the crisis is over and that he
will soon be restored to health.
Mrs. Emma Clay ,of Austell, spent
Tuesday with Mrs. Cliff Warren, who
is very sick at this writing,
Mrs. D. T. Alexander spent Sat
urday in Atlanta with relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Pair, of Jones
ville, spent Monday afternoon with
Mr. and Mrs. George Guinn.
Miss Rosa Clay is visiting at Dallas.
Mr. Chester Pair, of Atlanta, spent
Sunday with his parents Mr. and Mrs,
J. R. Pair.
Mr. and -Mrs. Noah Johnson, of
near Olive Springs, were guests of
Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Vaughn at din
ner Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Owen Mozley, of
Austell, were guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Ike Tinsley Sunday.
Mr. Walter Wilson, of Atlanta,
spent Sunday with his brother Mr.
Wily Wilson.
Miss Florence Gann, of near Floyd,
was the guest of Miss Maude Me-
Larty at dinner Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Olen Tinsley visited
his mother near Mount. Zion, Sun
day. :

son, Hiram, visited friends near Chat
tahoochee recently.

this week her mother, grand-mother
Tinsley, of near Mount Zion. .
~ Mr. P. T. Stallings is on the jury
this week.
- Remember Sabbath School at this
place every Sunday morning at ten
o’clock because of so much flu we
didn’t meet for several Sundays. But
we are glad to say everybody is re
ported better and we hope to have
them out with us again soon,

been real sick with pneumonia and

posed with rheumatism.

Rev. J. A. Gray preached two very
interesting sermons here Sunday and
Sunday night.
Mrs. J. C. McCowan was called to
Athens last Tueslay on account of
the illness of her daughter, Mrs. Sam
Moon. We are glad to learn that Mrs.
Moon has recovered sufficiently as to
return home with her mother Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Sorrells, of
Hiram, spent Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. A. A. Griggs.
~ There are several cases of flu in
this community. Mrs. G. F. McEl
reath, Misses Donnie Babb and Mat
tie Lindley are among the sick ones.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rush, of Adairs
’ville, spent the week-end with Mrs.
Rushs’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M.
Rollins.
| The outlook for farming looks a
little better this morning as it is
clear.
Mr. Willie Cantrell, who has been
working Atlanta, has come home to
farm.

Mr. Mayes Kemp has purchased a
new buggy. :
Miss Lillie Belle Kemp has been
sick with the flu, but she is able to
attend school again, we are glad to
say.
Mr. Petty has purchased a new
Ford car.
Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Caldwell have
moved into the house with Mr. and
Mrs. N. F. Frey and Mr. Mayor from
Atlanta, has moved intosthe house
where Mr. and Mrs. Caldwell lived.
Marshall, the little son of Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Voyles, is better at this
writing. We hope he will soon be
back at school again.
Mr. H. W. McGarity, of this place,
is working in Atlanta for Mr. Gibson.
Mr. E. W. Marler visited relatives
in Atlanta Sunday.
Miss Eva Algood and Messrs. Her
bert and Fred Allgood are over the
flu and are able to attend school
again.
Mr. Billie Kemp has the flu at this
writing.
The singing given by Messrs.
Henry and Steve Frey last Sunday
night was highly enjoyed.

visited relatives here Sunday:.

Lee Hood and Merzie Caldwell.
"Mrs. E. W. Marler paid Mrs. J.
H. Haney a short visit Sunday after
noon.
Mr. Joe Lecroy has put up a new
store and has nearly everything in
the line of groceries.
Miss Edna Allgood, of this place,
has been attending school in Mariet
ta, has had the flu and has been at
home for two weeks. She returned
to Marietta Monday morning.
Mr. L. L. Bentl§, of New Hope,
and Miss Irene Frey were married
last Sunday afternoon. We hope for
them a long and happy life.

The flu casese are some better in
our section, we are glad to say.
Mr. H. H. Hefner was called to
the bedside of his daughter, Mrs.
Wesley Taylor, on Monday. We hope
Mrs. Taylor will soon be out.

spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and
Mrs. H. H. Hefner.
Mr. and Mrs. McKie Thompson
visited Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Orr of
Mars Hill Sunday.
Messrs. Lenard Hefner and Bryan
Taylor are spending a few days with
sick relatives in Atlanta.

of Marietta, spent Saturday night
and Sunday with the former's pa
rents, Rev. and Mrs. W. E. McCol

Green and Willie Hefner spent Sun
day afternon with Messrs. Roy and
Paul Fitzgerald.
Mr. Matt Allen cut one of his fing
ers almost off one day last week while
working in his saw mill.
Mr. Cash Hicks, almost got his. leg
broken one day last week and it has
given him dreadful pain since.
Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Brinkley visited
relatives at Lost Mountain Sunday.
