summer vacation resort of employes

happy day and evening were spent
and at night the children sent up
balloons with lighted tapers in them

Mrs. Harry Steele has returned
from her wedding trip and is prettier
than ever. She is deeply interested
in house-keeping and intends to
raise fine chickens at her country
home.
Judge Douglas Wikle, of the Cir
cuit Court of Tennessee, is visiting
his brother, Mr. Chas. A. Wikle, for
a few days Judge Wikle was raised
in Cartersville and practiced law in
Nashvlle, Tenn., before going to the
hench.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sams will go
to house-keeping in their new, home
on the Powder Springs road in about
two months. It is known as the E.
P. Green farm and is a beautiful
country place. Marietta will wel
come this popular family home again
Mrs. Tennent Black has returned
from Chattanooga where she spent
a week attending parties given Miss
Marguerite Friedel who was marri
ed to Mr. C. E_ Terrell on the 29th of
June. It was a church wedding af
ter which the bridal pair came to Ma
rietta with Mrs. Black to spend two
or three months. Mr. Terrell is
Mrs. Black’s brother.

Mr. Warren Potter arrived in Ma
rietta last Saturday with his bride
and is spending a few days with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. ArthurS. Pot
ter, before gong to house keeping on
McDonald street.
He was married on the afternoon
of June 30th in Omaha, Neb., to Miss
Laura Wilhelmy at the home of
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Wil
helmy.
The house was decorated in a color
scheme of white and pink, roses and
sweet peas being the flowers used.
The bridal pair stood under a
canopy of pink and white roses dur
ing the ceremony which was per
formed by Rev. Leonard Groh, of
St. Mark's Lutheran church. The
wedding chorus from Lohengren was
played by Miss May Grimes. The
bride was dressed in white silk voile
trimmed with shadow lace and car
ried bride roses and lilies of the val
ley. There were no attendants and
about forty intimate friends and re
latives witnessed the ceremony and
remained for the dinner served on
a table decorated with baskets ot
roses and sweet peas with bows of
pink and white tulle. Mr. and Mrs.
Clarence S. Potter, brother and sis
ter of Mr. Warren Potter, were
among the guests.
The bride’s traveling suit was of
dark blue gabardine with blue milan
straw hat trimmed with French rose
buds, very becoming to her blonde
beauty. Mrs. Warren Potter wil bc
welcomed as an acquisition to Mari
etta society.

ICE CREAM FESTIVAL
On Thursday afternoon from 5 to
7 and in the evening from 8 to 10
there will be an ice crea mfestival
on the lawn of Mrs. A. S. Clay's
residence. Miss Evelyn Clay and
Miss Lamar Latham will be assist
ed in the afternoon by a number of
small girls and in the evening by
several of the prettiest young la
dies in town. The festival is for
the benefit of the proposed parish
hall of St. James Church. Every
body is invited and all who attend
will have a pleasant time.
