Wednesday afternoon at three o'-
clock all the 300,000 tickets from 19
different boxes were mingled in one
box in the band stand with Mr. W. A,
Florence as master of ceremonies and
chief spieler of the occasion.
Elizabeth, little daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Charlie Northcutt, was
blind-folded and drew out the tick
ets. Miss Fannie Lou Webb, teacher
in the city schools, won the han9-
some ring and Dr. Leslie Blair the
cash.
Rev. Randolph Claiborne called
out the numbers which were called
out by Mr. Florence.
The contest was much more popl
- than was contemplated, as the
estimation on the amount of tickets
to be used was 50,000, but to the
surprise of all there was about
300,000 used. The amount of card
board stock used in printing these
tickets by the Marietta Journal was

BAPTIST CHURCH NEWS.
A large and appreciative audience
greeted Dr. S. Y. Jameson on his
second Sunday at the First Baptist
church last Sunday.
Dr. Jameson’s long experience in!
teaching the Bible in college work
and the ministry, is exemplified in‘
his splendid sermons, and no doubt
will mean larger and more apprecia
tive audiences as his ability becomes
better known.,
The Sunday School officers and
teachers met at the Pastorium Mon
day night and planned work for the
new year. Several new teachers
were elected, and after business of
the King was disposed of, Dr. Jame
son treated all present to some Arkan_
saw pecans that he had gathered
himself on the campus of Ouichita
College.
Plans were formulated to have the
largest attendance at Sunday School
Feby. 13th “Georgia Go to Sunday
School Day,” that Cobb Ceunty has
ever seen.
At a regular conference Wednes
day night reports were received for
year just closed, the treasurers re
port showed that the church was out
of debt with a small cash balance on
hand for current expenses. Showing
a good financial as well as spiritual.
condition. Seven new members werni
received this last week. 1
