As soon as the way is clear, the good people of this city will organize a Seaman’s Bethel and Home. Heath of Mrs. Hays. Mrs. W. J. Hays, of St. Simons Island; died last evening of pneu monia, after an illness of only a few days. She had set apart last Tues day to go to Frederica with her hus band and a few friends to see and decorate the grave of their beautiful daughter who died a few years ago. Feeling unwell, she did not go, but to-uio 1 tow, just one week from that day, she will be laid by the side of that daughter, Mrs. Hays was a most estimable lady, and well belov ed by a large circle of friends who will miss her. We extend to the stricken father and son our heartfelt sympathy. _ Three Instead of One. It has been a foregone conclusion all along that 1888 would witness the election here of a cotton press, for it would be an absolute necessity. The chances now are that we shall have three instead; of one. The elements that have fought us in the past have about given up the job as a bad one, and cotton will begin to pour in here another season as never before. Many places in the cotton bolt have learn ed through Mr. Symons ttfat cotton can be and will be shipped from here direct to England and at less delay and expense, hence it is coming.
