After which ho gave a short, but very interesting history of Mr. Clark’s life and labors, after which an opportunity was given the con gregation to express their feelings in reference to Mr. Clark, when short, but feeling remarks were made by Mr. B. B. Lamb, M. Green and Mr. J. M. Rice and many other friends, all anxious to bear testimony to the goodness of heart and purity of life of a dear friend. The union meeting of tho Metho dist, Presbyterian and Baptist con gregations, at L’arioso Hall, in the interest of the work of the Brunswick Bible Society* gave evidence, by the large and attentive audience which assembled, of the interest felt i a the matter by our community. The services were opened by Rev. Mr. McCook, who briefly outlined the object of the meeting and of the soci ety, which is the dissemination of the Bible among all classes of people.— He said it was the intention of tho society to soon begin a eanvassofthe city, that a copy of the Word might be placed, either by sale or gift, in every family in town not already sup plied. Rev. Mr. Golden, of the Baptist church, was introduced, and said that whilst the Baptist denomination could not co-operato in any work of the American Bible Society, having a society of its own of exactly the same work to be supported, there was nothing to prevent hit church from joining heartily in the local work of the Brunswick Bible Society, and that he therefore most earnestly sec onded the words of his brother who had preceded him. He said that he had seen many cases of destitution of the Scriptures during his residence in Brunswick, that he knew there must be others, and that be hoped to see them supplied. Rev. Mr. Brown was then intro duced, and bis address on the value and virtue of the Holy Scriptures was listened to with marked attention and pleasure. He spoke feelingly, and His earnest words fonnd many an echo in the hca.ts of hia hearers. The meeting was closed by a additional remarks by Mr. McCook, and the benediction.
