Postell, of St. Simons Is land, has proffered to the Brunswlok Rlfllemen, and through them to the Stato at large, ten acres of land near the Beach Hotel on St. Simons Is -land, to be used ns a military camp for the State of Georgia. Stops will be taken at once by the Riflemen to have companies contemplating a vis it to'the sen shore this sea&on to oc cupy said grounds,' and thus make the entering wedge for the consuma scbcfcc. low of no place in the State better fitted for the said cprnp. It is situated right on the ocean, with plenty of sea breeze—wide bench for drill, with hotel facilities at hand, double daily line to the city, mail and telephone. In short, every con venience that could be* desfted. ■ It was not only liberal in Mr. Postell to make this offer, but considerate as well, and we trust that the Adjutant General will see it in the s..me light. A committee 1ms been appointed by the Riflemen, consisting of Lieut, Morris, Capt. Dart, Sergeant Barku- loo, Hon. J. E. Dart and Mr. P.ostell, the donor, who will proceed to Atlanta at once and tender tho grounds to the Adjutant-General and urge its acceptance by the State mil itary. last evening, Mr. TV. C. lilcwster nnd Miss Claudia Munroc. Mr. Blcwstcr is well knoitii here, having been in Mr. A. T. I'uiuain's employ the past year. His many friends hero “wish him much joy.” To Rent.—Two rooms over .Miner's Bank, pleasantly located. Apply to J. M. Madden. Serious Accident. Mr. TV. J. Williams met with a se rious accident last night whilst go ing home. Being intoxicated nt tho time he can give no account of the affair. Tho presumption is that he was walking up the track and was run over by an E. T. V. & G. engine on tho B. & TV. track, near Mr. Wil liam’s residence. Tt)p toes of his left foot together with the shoe, were out off diagonally. The . right leg was broken about the ankle, and his arm and faco bruised up. Dr. Tucker was summoned who dressed his wounds, and at noon to-<jay, as sisted by Drs. Burford and Butts, amputated the left foot above the bruisbd parts. They are in hopes of saving the other leg. When tho accident occured last 'evening, no one seems to have known of it until his groans attracted some persons near by, among them Free man Wright, a eolord man, who drag ged him across the street to his home and aroused tho family. Store Entered. The window thief Ja again abroad in tho city. We have had freedom from his depredation for some months past, but he has opened the ball ngain. Last night Mr. J. ri. Wright’s store on the corner of Newcastle and Gloucester streets, was entered by parties unknown nnd fifty dollars worth of clothing stolen. The thief AikAua’ltb ^A-brick .through ..the-front ' * window, untl not being discovered quietly proceeded to extract such clothing as hung in the window. The beat of the policemen who passes that way extends from the bracket works to the city park and requires three-fourths of an hour to mukd the round, so it is not nt nil astonishing that he knew nothing of the affair. Vigorous efforts should be made to get such chaps, and when once caught should be well attended to by authorities, either real or im aginary, the latter preferable in such cases.
