There will be held to-morrow night at tho Methodist church of this city a union meeting of tho different churches looking to the organization of a Port Society in this city. Rev. J. L. Gilmore, of Savannah, well knowp to our people, will address the meeting. The new society will be under the direction of the Amer ican Seaman’s Society of New York, or rather will receive material help from that source. The time has ar rived when something should be done for this class of people who come among us in great numbers nowa days. Think of it—at least 400 ves sels will visit this port during 1888— taking a low average of twelve men on each vessel, and we .figure up at least 5,000 people to whom the gos pel could, and should be preached. Turn out then to-morrow night cn masse, and fill the church to over flowing, and let Brunswick come to the front in this matter and show what there is in her.
