The Health Officer's report .for the mouth of August, was received and ordered filed. ; ^ Petition from W. H. Anderson, ask ing that he be granted the privilege ^ of putting la a sido track, on Coch ran avenue, between Mansfield and HoWe streets, received and referred ’ to the Committee on streets, drains and bridges, with power to act. An application l'rom M. V. Burbage appeared be fore Council and stated that if tho city would donate ten acres of land south of Mrs. Habersham's property to him and associates, and exempt the same with the improvements thereon from taxes for ten years, that they would erect a wooled fac tory on same. On motion a commit tee consisting of Madden, Berrie and Penniman was appointed to investi gate tho matter. A sanitary and building commit tee was appointed as follows: Pen niman, Crovatt, and Madden. The matter of filling in ditch in the southern portion of Old Town ' was referred to the committee op. streets, drains and bridges in consul tation with tho city engineer. Council then took a recess until Monday evening, Nov. 20. E. A. Nelson, Clerk of Council. “Chuugo That Tune.” A parly of seven lleshy gentlemen were making their way to the city yesterday evening from Fancy Blufi in an ordinary boat, among them Mr. Urockington, Colonel Tharin and Mr. Ross. Whilst crossing Turtle river with tho waves continually splash- f iug in, some of the party commenced 35 singing, “Out ou the ocean,” etc., by t way of keeping warm. This was more than Colonel Tharin could stuud, so ho called out, “Hold on, g hoys; change that tune; it is top ||; real.
