Almut two o’clock *thi» morning the lire bell rang and the denizens of ihis city were awakened from their quiet slumbers. It originated in the store of Mr. C. M. Tilton, aud when discovered was found to be about midway down tho store among a lot of paper bags. Mr. John Greer, who sleeps across the way at tho Key stone stables was among the first to know of tho fire, and by the time the belt rang he and a colored man had gotten the Prelection Hose Reel to a plug and bad a stream on the fire which was soon extinguished. Mr. Tilton informs us that he had $400 of insurance and estimates the loss of goods, fixtures, furniture, eto., at about $900, ill of which was destroy ed, either by fire or water, and is therefore a total loss. • ■' Several theories' are out atr to;the J^J£SBxft*£i!eCT little boy that Tilton has in his shop was locked in there last night .and did the mischief. Another theory is that a burglar entered through the back window robbed the money draw, which con tained some thirteen dollars, and which was found on the floor in back room this morning, and tbs papers and books it contained found outside on another lot and then set fire either accidently or intention ally to the paper bags. We are glad to know anyway tbat the de partment as usual put in some good work at the right time and place. When tho Are was over, mother Rowe was on hand with her pot of hot coffee for the boys, all of whom esteem her efforts in their behalf. What About Your Sewerage Among the visitors to our town, we note the names of Messrs. Hotch kiss and Duncan of Bay City, Mich igan. They had heard of Bruns wick, and had come to spy out the country, and possibly to locate. We sought an interview with Mr. Hotch kiss, and what do you suppose his first question was? “What about your sewerage, Mr. Editor? Wo peo ple from my country neyer locate in town without proper sewerage.” Wo told him we were now preparing the way for as good and complete system as can be found in the land. Thanksgiving. Don’t forget that Thursday is Thanksgiving Day. Mako your ar rangements to close upyourestab lishment on that day, so as to give your clerks a showing; also seo to it that you make, at the ringing of the bell, your appearance at church to thank God for llis mercies. And pee to it that your pastor’s family is supplied with as fat a turkey ns you ha\ v e for your own. By observing these suggestions you will be happy yourself and make others so too.
