gent. Wo announced recently that
we would give “our plan” for getting
what wo needed, and continue the
discussion if he would agree to stick
to his text. He agreed to do so, but
in his last; instead of showing why
our plan won't work, he simply says
that it won’t, and then goes oif at a
tangent talking about Savannah's
police, pay of officer?; etc. - Now, we
respectfully submit that this, is not
what ho agreed to, and unless he can
do better than hla last effusion, he
had better quit, for the more he talks
the more pegple spy to us “yaur plan,
Messrs. Editors, is the right one.

The railroad committee were re
minded that the “king’s highways”
must be kept open through tho city
for people to pass, but at the same
time the needs of the railroads must
be considered and their rights re
spected.
The police comrnitteocame in next
for suggestions and on this line our
new Mayor became emphatic; He
called special attention to a certain
class of lewd characters who had a
habit of taking up the sidewalks and
running decent people off t^e same.
This class need expect no considem
tion from Mayor Colson. They had
better staud aside.
/ Our schools came in next fpr no
tice and the committee were urged to
do all in their power to staud by this
very important factor in tbo make
up of our town.

came in for wise suggestions. , ,
The Mayor then referred to' bonds
and sowerage. ' He recognized the
fact that schools, etc. wore necessary;
that sewerage soon would be, if not
now a necessity, but Baid bo was not
sure that ’‘bonds” were the way out
of our troubles. There were bo many
chances for “putting up jobs on the
oity.” That in all of his knowledge
he knew of no place where these
things had not been done more or
less.
Mayor Colson then announced the
following:
