■Brunswick’s Death Bate.
Some time since we published a
comparative statement of the death
rate of many cities on the American
< «ontinsfitf averaging all the way from
fourteen to tbfrty-two per thousand
^habitants per annum. We wound
ap onr statistics, with' Brunswick’s
death rate, ending December 1, with
eight per thousand, the lowest on the
American Continent. We thought
then that some newspaper would
take us up and endeavor to show that
our table was in error. So far the
only tbing'we have seen is Atlanta’s
death rate, published in the “Consti"
of Monday, in which'that paper
gives tho rate for Atlanta.”—
that healthy city that was s<
healthy that she wasn’t afraid to in
vito yellow, fever last summer. The
figures for 1888: Population 65,000;
deaths 1,341 ^ ratio 20.53 pur thous
sand; whites, 31.14; colored, 33.27
per thousand. And yet the people of
the interior speak of Brunswick as a
sickly place and arc afraid to come
down here in summer, nil of which
is amusing in the light of the above
figures.
