The Georgia Republicans.
The Republicans of the State of
Georgia met in convention in Atlanta
last Wednesday. Most of the dole
gates were negroes, and they naturally
desired to control of convention, litis

looted to, and bolted the convention,
■carrying with them about 100 colored
delegates. The rcgn’ar convention
then placed the following ticket in the
lield:

Comptroller-genetal, W A Pledger.
Attorney-general, S Thomas.
General Gut troll was recommended
for Governor.

dorsing the A ministration the conven
tion adjourned sine die.

The Democratic Congressional Con
vention of the 7th district met in con
vention in Dalton yesterday, and upon
call of t.:c counties, all oUthc counties
except two were represented avitli large
delegations, viz: Pauiding and Haral
son.
Judge Dougherty,’ of Polk, tv as
chosen temporary chairman, and after
wards permanent chairman of the
convention, with J. 1\ Lumpkin, of
Rome, as secretary. Alter organizing,
they adjourned for dinner.
The convention met again it 2 P.
M., and Hon. J. U. Clements, of the
county of Walker, was put in nomi
nation, an 1 upon call of the counties
the entire vole of the convention was
given him and he is now the
UNANIMOUS CHOICE
of the Democratic party in the 7th
congressional district.
The convention] finished its work
haimonionsly, and the many delegates
returned toTheir homes, well satisfied
with their’ work.
