With this issue of the Gazette we
the editorisl control, and in
dung so we aVtttV6 you that
we will exert every effort in our
power to give you a live, wide
awake newspaper, devoted entirely to
foome interest. Right here allow us
to say that the amount of goml done
by a fearlessly conducted, live and
•enterprising newspaper is never pro
perly appreciated at the time ot its
•publication, but let a community be
‘deprived of the newspaper cnteiprise,
then its worth, its influence, its indis
pensable eflicacy at once manifest to
all observing persons, We will try
t) mata Gazette a looking-glass
to the common interest of the people
county, and suffice to say
that her people are ablest people it
they would only recognize the fact.
Your capabilities fa'Cs wonderful.
Your opportunities are grand. 5 our
resources arc wonderful. Nature
seemed *to have sweetly smiled on jnu,
and “sown in her profusion all her
beauties and blandishments.”

tire town authorities had the right to
Control the sale of whisky in said
town; this, tliciefoie, put an end to the
several eases that was pending against

Ever Vigilant as has been ollt grand
juries, the body that was hunting up
the evil doers last week made a thirty
two strike, and still it was not a veVy
favorable week, for in order to com
plete the list, they found it necessary
to present all the road commissioneis
in the county, including thV town
commissioners. This should be a re
minder to those officer that their acts
are being watched by the people whom
