Murphy and Four of His Followers Dropped From the Nat'l Democratic Club. New York.—Tha ousting of Chas. F Murphy, leader of Tammany Hail, and several of hla follower*, from mem bership In the National Democratic Club created a »tlr In political circle* today. The ostensible reason given during the heated debate over the mat ter at the club laat night was that Murphy ••• behind In hla duea. Judge Edward F. O'Dwyer, prealdent of the club, who has been leading tho fight against Murphy, Introduced a resolution < ailing for the elimination I of the Tumtnany leader and the others but that waa not formally adopted as the point wi* .upheld that under tile rules the men were automatically dropped as they had not paid duea for two montha. Refused Check. Thomas F. Smith, secretary of Tam many Hall, appealed ngulnst the ruling and tendered u check for the money due. When that waa refu*ed he asked fur a vote. Seventeen membera of the hoard of governor* were present and they decided against the appeal, 10 to i 7. In the comae of the debate Smith said the men named would not submit to such humiliation. "The name* were p’cked out for an obvious purpose,’’ he said, "and we w ill have them restored to the rolls." Judge O'Dwyer replied that he could give a very good reason for the club's action.
