Paroled Bleaseite Cuts
Well Known White Man

Aiken ex-Convict Ready
Slashes Robert Key. Object
ed to Former Seeing
His Sister.
Aiken. S. C. —Yesterday afternoon
Robert Key, a well known whito man
of the Rilverton section of this county,
was brought to Aiken, severely cut by
<'alvln Ready, a former convict, and
who was paroled by Governor I lira so
last year. Key had three deep cuts
across the hack and several across the
arm, the doctors having to make many
stitches to sew up the wounds.
Rural Policeman Samuels and Depu
ty Robinson went to the scene of tho
trouble yesterday afternoon, hut Ready
had fled, and it Is thought that he has
made his escape Into Georgia. The
officers learned that Ready was pay
ing attention to Key’s younger sister
and that Key objected because of the
former's reputation. The result was
a grudge and yesterday afternoon
Ready slipped up to Key and cut him.
Ready has a had reputation In this
county having been up for arson, but
the raw was no! pmssed and at the
same fn urt plead guilty to assault and
battery with Intent to kill and was
given four months, but was soon parol
ed by the governor.
Another Atlanta Coup;
‘Super Dansant’ at Hotel
Atlanta. After perusing the adver
tisements and circulars sent out dur
ing the past week or so by a local ho
tel. Atlantians are wondering what in
the name of volapuk a "super dan
sant" is.
The hotel management anounces
that a "super dansant" will take place
every evening in the dining room, or
maybe it Is the ball-room. Society
giris who know French, and spectac
led professors who know Greek have
searched the dlstlonarles In vain to
find what a, "super dansnnt" may he.
There Is super-man, and super-wo
u an, anil there are super-annuated
preachers, hut no dictionary, French,
l.atin. English or polyglot makes any
reference to a “super-dansant."
In Europe, and In New York, there
is a delightful form of entertainment
which bears the French title of “sou
per dansant." meaning simply a sup
per with dancing, and this form of
amusement Is known, of course by
name If not by actual experience, to
all cultutAd people. But "super dan
sant" has got the public guessing.
