Charge of the Season Ticket Sate
For Augusta baseball
The Academy nf Richmond county
will have full charge of the sale of the
season tickets for the Augusta base
hall Association.
This aab< will commence Thursday
morning, and continue until the supply
Is exhausted, the limit bring five hun
dred tickets. This sale will be handled
exclusively by the Academy.

Augusta Bar Association Will
Probably Give Barbecue at
Carmichael's for Former
President. Annual Meeting of
Association.
The president of the Augusta Bar
Association was authorized today to
api oint a committee of three to plan
an entertainment which the associa
tion will give former President Wil
liam Howard Taft, who will be in Au
gusta within the next few weeks. It
is expected that a barbecue at Car
michael’s Club will be the form of en
tertainment decided on. Mr. Taft is
an honorary member of the bar asso
ciation.
The annual meeting of the associa
tion was held toda> and little except
routine business was transacted. The
same officers were re-elected and are
as follows:
Major J. C. C. Black, president.
Major Jos B. Cumining, first vice
president.
Mr. Boykin Wright, second vice
president.
Mr. (!eo. T. Jackson, secretary.
Mr. Bryson Crane, treasurer.
Mr. Archibald Blackshear was made
a member of the executive commit
tee. Messrs. Wallace Pierce and J.
E Harper were elected members of
the membership committee.
The following new members were
received: Messrs. John T. West, W.
S. Howard. Prank E. Courtney, Albert
Ingram, Abram Levy and P. T-
Chance.
“UNCLE CHARLIE ’ IS OFF
AGAIN TO GEORGIA TOWNS
The many friends of “Cncle Char
lie” Wilkinson, well known evangelist,
will be interested to know that he will
leave the city tomorrow on a week's
tour through certain Georgia towns,
where he will preach under his tent.
He will go to Adel first and before re
turning will visit Nashville, Tenn.
“Uncle Charlie" states that on all of
his trips in his evungelistic work he
never fails to boost Augusta, his home
town, and that he also speaks a good
word for the railroad companies and
endeavors to induce people to come to
Augusta.
GERMAN AIRMAN DIES.
Metz, Germany. Lieutenant Bon
gard, a German military aviator, died
here today from a fractured skull
caused by aeroplane accident last
night.

est in the Chicago National League
baseball club, anounced today he
might succeed Charles W. Murphy as
president of the Cubs. He also de
clared he had not attempted to dis
pose of his stock to Chicago ayndi

“I think the *'iilis a good paying
proposition and I can see no reason for
selling. " Mr. Taft was reported as say
ing. "I have never offered the stock
for sale. I sincerely think I will run
the ('libs myself. There must lie a lot
of pleasuro in bossing athletes."
Wants New Honors.
New York. —John J. McDermott,
twice the open golf chamion of the
United States, will go abroad again
this year in an attempt to win new
honors.
Word to this effect was brought here
today by one of .McDermott’s friends.
McDermott has been in the south
for several weeks playing exhibitions
with Tom McNamara agd Michael J

golfing form, although his recent ill
ness has caused him to lose about ten

Los Angeles, Calif. —Freddie Welsh,
lightweight of Pontipridd, Wales, won
a decision over Joe Rivers of Los An
geles at Vernon arena yesterday after

Over 40 Years, Barred.
New York. —A rule barring a man
more than forty years of age from en
gaging in a public boxing match In
this state was issued today by the
state boxing committee. That supple
ments the previous rule tha contes
tants must not be less than 18 years
old.
The Brooklyn Bridge to
Be Made a Double Decker
New York. —The old Brooklyn bridge
is to be converted into a double-decker,
according to plans made public today
by the bridge commissioner. It was
said the bridge cables could stand
double the strain to which they now
are subjected but that the arches prob
ably would be remodeled.
