WEDNESDAY. MARCH 18. Tells Why The American Has Gone Ahead of National League, Hangs On To The Veterans Too Long New York.—Because they persist In hittigltig uu to their veteran** long ni ter their real usefulness Is (tone — that's the reason why the National i.eague, once the classiest organiza tion In baseball, has had to yield first place to the American League, Tlwe has been no denying of the Tact that for the past four years the American League teams nave had it "on" their National rivals. The \merican Leaguers have b<ll triumphant in the last four world se ries combats, and in the majority ol post-season games between the Amor leans and Nationals the teams of th<* younger organization have been triumphant, in l'Jln the American Leaguers were winners In every se ries In which they engaged with the Nationals. The Reason Shown. A glance through the baseball rec ords shows the reason The Ameri can league keeps a star player as long as he performs In major league style—but not one day longer, limy cut him adrift »*en be starts to skid and supplant him with new blood — toying to the fore some youngsters who soon shine Just as brightly as did the stars of old. With the National League It is dif ferent. Sentiment seems to cause Gone Forever Are Dyspeptic Days of Old The Simple, Safe, Sure Use of Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets Will Bring Joy to Any Stomach Sufferer In an Easy, Comfortable, Dietless Way. How many quiet, afraid-to-make-a nolse, unhappy homes there are due to cross, irritable, miserable, close-that kltchen-door kind of dyspepsia suffer ers. Such men and women cannot help their peevishness for they suffer ter ribly and should not be censured. A stomach that is irritated, raw, re bel'lous and not fit to do its work Is certainly the cause of constant drag ging down and even excruciating agony. It is a feeling surpassed by no other illness known to man. No one should blame such n person for ill temper and siler.t moodiness Ever and always is that dead, gone, sour tasting feeling at hand to curs* every waking hour. Dyspepsia, had breath, gas Tit is, - tarrh of the stomach, pains in howias, nervousness, heartburn. belching, bloating, etc., come from wrongful conditions of digestive Juices. There i : nothing to correct these horrors until these juices are again replenished. When the system exhausts its juice:,, when the liver, when the pancreas, the stomach become thereby unfit to fur nish the proper digestive fluids, one cannot expect this same system, with out aid, to do anything else than keep on making their improper digestive products. Such a condition means all manner of suffering, and unquestionably fatal danger lurks in such delay. There is relief in Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets that means a restoration to normal health, a building up of cor rect d '■ystive juices and an absolute harmle'Lsness In the method and Its result. Stuart’s Dyspepsia Tablets contain qualities in just the right proportion to build up the weakened gastric Juice. When the tablet reaches the stomach, it readjusts matters quickly, balances acids and alkalies and stops pain, suf fering, etc. Other ingredients have Just as im - portant effects upon the intestines as well as the stomach and thus in a re markably short time stomach ills, in digestion, etc., disappear. Stovall, who Joined tne Naps uck in 1904, was with the St Louis browns until last fail and now Is with the r ederals. Marry Dims, a siar in 11104, is still on the A idle lie payroll, but lie plays no longer. Jimmy Callahan, now manager of the White Sox, C.nrk Griffith, now manager of the Senators and Mek Altrock, are the only players who played in 11104 who still are urawiug salaries irom American League. Nearly 25 Men. But It's a bit dllterent on the Na tional League which carried- and played regularly in 1913 nearly 25 men who were In the game in 1904 and even earlier than that date. In cluded in this list are Eagner, llresna han, Mathewson, Ames. Cainnitz, Hug gins, Evers, Tinker, McCormick, brown, Wiltse, Needham, booing, Kiing and McLean. Glancing over the 1909 rosters of the American and National Leagues, and comparing them with tne present ones, shows that the Nationals still have nearly 7u men in their line-ups who were there in 1909 while the American Leaguers have weeded out the slip) ine stars of the other days and that ti. i National Leaguers have hung onto them —and lost consider able prestige thereby. The result of the conflicting poli cies has been shown in tne inter league clashes in the past few years. The American League outfits, com posed mostly of lads, have been able to sweep everything before them; the National League, with its heavy mem bership of slipping veterans, have slowed up and have had to yield be fore the onslaught of the younger or ganization. Weed ’em Cut. It seems to be up to the National Leaguers to weed out the veterans an.l let the bench-warming kids ooze out into the spotlight if they want to save themselves from slipping to a minor league status when compared with the s; eed boys of the American League. The new organization has forged ahead so rapidly in the past few years, has so clearly outclassed the Nationals, that many skeptical fans are declaring that the Nationals today, despite their galaxy of stars, do not rank superior to any of the first division teams in the Class AA minor leagues. Southwest Georgia After Political lree Plums This Portion of State An nounces Intention of Being on the Job. Atlanta, Ga,—When it comes to shak ing down the plains from Georgia's bis political tree this summer, southwest Georgia has announced its intention of being on the Job. "We don’t want ail the plums, or even a lion’s share, but W’e do want one of the big ones, and I believe the people of other sections of the state will recognize the Justice of our claims." Just wliat the southwest Georgia people want has not yet been definite ly stated, and it is presumed that it will be more or legs determined by other political developments.
