the fact that MsJ. Butt was a soldier of
the (’idled Stat* a It la deemed appro
priate that the National Guardsmen of
this section of Georgia and South Caro
ling and regulars from Savannah and
Charleston be invited to participate.
The Merchant* A Manufacturers* As
sociation reoently took the matter up
with Mrs Thomas Barrett. Jr., presi
dent of the Archibald Butt Memorial
Association, and Invitations have been
issued.
The memorial association, which was
formed shortly after the sinking of the
Titanic, will dedicate the memorial to
M«J. Butt two years to a day from the
time the ship on which he was sailing
back to his native land sunk beneath
the waves of the North Atlantic Ocean.
It la a splendid compliment to the as
sociation. and particularly to Its presi
dent. that every hill has boon paid ami
the magnificently decorated brdge
stands as eloquent evidence of the tire
less work of these Augusta ladles in a
highly commendable endeavor.
The city built the bridge, but the
ladies secured several thousand dollars
for the decorations.

across as readily as they should with

of the Augusta baseball team, stated
President Kalhflelsch, of the associa
tion.
Mr. Kalhflelsch nays that he has
received a number of suggestions so
far. but none of them seems to hit the
mark, and In the words of the presi
dent himself “There is yet u word in
the dictionary that has not been
thought of, and 1 would like to hear
some young Augusta lady fan pro
notince It.”

The funeral services over the re
mains of Mrs. Salem Dutcher, who
died at her residence on lower Walker
street, yesterday morning at 10:45
o'clock will be held this afternoon at
four o'clock at St. Patrick's church.
She was the youngest daughter pf
the Into Mr. Germain P. Dortlc, who
was a prominent merchant In Augus
ta .
Deosased Is survived hy one sister.

The many friends of Mr. nnd Mrs.
Dutcher extend their deepest sympa
thy to Mr. Dutcher in his bereave
ment. Mrs. Dutcher was a highly es
teemed lady, a devoted wife and faith
ful friend. There will be a large num
ber to mourn her death and many will
attend the funeral services this morn
ing and pay a last tribute of respect.
The deat of Mrs Dutcher was very
sudden and caused a great shock to
her friends. While she had not been
in robust health for some time, still
It was thought she would live many
more years,
