SEEKING MISSING GIRL
New York. —High school boys and
girls in Ridgefield Park, N. J , were
asked today to join the search for Jes
sie Wood, a first year pupil whose dis
appearance last night roused the whole
town. Miss Wood is 16 years old, nnd
a daughter of Percy L. Wood, head
bookkeeper of the Corn Exchange Bank
of this city.
The girl left her home last night to
attend a meeting of the Campfire Girls
nl the house of a neighbor. She did
not reach the meeting and none of het
relatives or friepds have seen her
since.

Rand, South Africa, returned here to
day Ha was accompanied by Major
Surgeon Robert E. Noble and Dr. S.
F, Darling, who assised him. General

other honors in appreciation of his

New York.—The cotton market opened
firm, 5 to 10 higher .today In response to
higher Liverpool cables, larger English
spot sales and unfavorable weather ad
vices from the southwest. There wove
rumors that leading spot Interests were
preparing to ship cotton out of the lo
cal stock during April. Prices later
eased off with May at Ins! night's price
while later deliveries held 1 to 4 higher.
Liquidation of Slay contracts became
more active Jate In the morning ami
the market sold 3 to 9 points net lower
following better weather forecasts anil
unsettling Washl. gton advices.
Business was less aellve during the
early afternoon and prices held steadier
with May about six points lower, while
other months ruled within a point or two
of lafst night's closing figures.

New Orleans. —Cotton futures today
opened steady, four to seven points up
on good rabies and more rain In the
cotton region. Around the call the mar
ket stood 5 lo 8 points up but profit
taking by longs set In and half an hour
after the opening prices were only 1 to
2 points up.
Business was small In the afternoon.
At 2 o'clock prices wore 1 to 2 points
under yesterday's closing level.
Spot cotton steady, 1-16 off; middling
13; wales on the spot 909: to urrlve 925.
Receipts 396; stock 167,806.
Realizing by longs Increased and of
ferings were not well received. At noon
prices were three to four points net
lower.

Chicago.—Bearish crop conditions and
lack of export demand led to renewed
wheat selling. Opened unchanged to 1-8
al-4 higher and tnere was Home murther
advance, then ram eddiaedee
advance, then came a decided setback.
Corn gave way after a moderate bulge
on short covering. Opened a shade off
to l-Sal-4 up. made a moderate gain
then broke sharply.

Decrease In hog receipts west helped
provisions. Fin * sales ranged from a
shade to lioal2 1-2 with transactions af
terward a tas till higher level.
Subsequent advices of a little export
business at New York resulted In a fresh
wheat upturn. Closed firm at 1-4 to 3-8
a 1-4 net advance. Reports of Improved
eastern demand helped corn. Closed firm
1-4 to l-lu3-8 above last night.

were not able to shake out holdings of

ing's recessions.
Bonds steady.
Closed firm. increased demand for
copper storks stiffened the general list,
which reached Its best figures for some
of the coalers and western shares.
