Permanent Organization at Next Commencement.
Folli.wlng in a copy .if u lettir that in l-elng to every known
alumnus of the Academy of Hiehmond County and the anthers are ex

Temporary Alumni Athletie Association of the Academy of Richmond
County.
„ To the Alumni of the Academy:
If you hate kepi In touch with the aplendld progress and develop
ment of the Academy, you know that the. aupport and encouragement of
Ita alumni la well deaerved. A plan haa been perfected for the organl
xatl in of a permanent Alumni Society of the Academy of Hiehmond
county aa a feature of the next commencement. In the meantime, how
ever, certain definite aaalatance la needed from the ulumnl In order to
make a aucceaa of tin* baseball season of 1914, and to enable thoae In
charge of athletics at the Academy to maintain the position which the
Academy has assumed In inter-acholaatlc contests with the schools of
other cities.
Athletics constitute an essential and beneficial .feature of every
school for hoys; and athletics at the Academy are not yet self-support
ing. The funds necessary to pay the expenses of visiting teams must ba
guaranteed; athletic equipment must be purchased and maintained; a
gymnasium is badly needed for the proper development of many of the
hoys at the Academy,
You, by reason of the fact that you arc alumni of the Academy, are
mem here of its Temporary Alumn Athletic Association, which will later
be merged Into a larger and permanent organization, having for its ob
, Jrct the continual Improvement and advancement of the Academy. Each
of you trre earnestly asked to send the sum of $2.00, us dues, direct to
the treasurer fit, K. Allen, Jr.,) thereby relieving others of the necessity
of calling personally upon you to solicit such payment. Larger sums
will be gratefully received and expended, along lines approved by Prin
cipal George P Hntler, for thu benefit of "the old Academy" which we
al! love and look upon with pride as one of the best assets of the city of
Augusta,
. Trusting *r. receive a prompt and hearty response to this first ap
peal i.f the Academy to its Alumni, we remain,
Yours very truly,
\V. INMAN CURRY, President.
JAMES M. HUL6, JR., Vice President.
GEORGE lIA INS. Secretary,
R. K. ALLEN, JR„ Treasurer.

II MAKE RACE?
Georgia Politicians Anxious to
Know ex-Governor’s Plans
For U. S. Senate.
Atlanta, Ga.—There is unusual in
terest just now in the paJitical plans
of former Gov. Joseph M. Brown.
Whether he has any plans or not no
one seems to know, and yet he is fig
uring extensively in the gossip, and
rumors are going the round that his
friends are raising a campaign fund
with a determined view to placing
him iu the race for Senator Hoke
Smith's seat in the United States
senate
Many of Governor Brown's closest
political friends do not believe that he
will undertake a race against Senator
Smith at this time. A member of the
State Democratic Executive Commit,
tee who voted for and strongly sup
ported Brown in his last %ace for gov
ernor said the other day:
"I Teel satisfied that Joe Brown »s
not going to run against Hoke Smltn.
It would look too much like a spite
race and it would have the effect 01
bringing back all the bitterness into
Georgia politics.”
Rumor in Circulation.
Some significant tact* in connection
with the gossip as to Governor Brown
are a report that he told a close
friend that he expected to make tne
race for the senate and, further, that
he Is said to have been in close con
sultation with J. R. fc’mitli, his formet
campaign manager. Then there was
the incident of the state executive
rommittee meeting when O. R. Hutch
ens of Rome, sought an indorsement
of Governor Brown’s candidacy by the
members of the committee after the
regular meeting had adjourned.
Oft the other hand, there is only
the statement of other friends of
Governor Brown to the effect that
they "do not believe he will run," or
that they "feel confident he will not
run,” to oppose to what looks like
possibly a more interesting political
development than Georgia has yet
seen this year
Senator Smith himself is remaining
in Washington through it all attend
ing to duties in the senate, and is
taking no hand in Georgia politics in
any direction except so far as con
cerns himself.
Felder and Hardwick Active.
In the meantime Attorney Genera.
T S. Felder and Congressman T. W.
Bardwick are preparing for activity
or. thp stump for Senator Bacon's nn
expired term, and it Is confidently ex
pected that as occasions offer Gov
exrnor Slaton will himself have some
thing to sav to the voters concerning
his candidacy for this office. Gov
ernor Slaton will, of course, be more
or less handicap; ed in making a cam
paign tour of the state on account o;
(he fact that most of his time wfll
be required in the governor’s office,
where, in any event, he expects to
remain until after the state primary.

Large Attendance Expected at
Church Tonight. Interest
iiteadily Growing,
The interest in the meeting at Cur

Both the singing and the sermon

This was manifest when the doors of
the church were opened and a num

A splendid meeting was held this

ing at the Crawford Avenue Baptist
Church, will use as' his subject to

morrow afternoon, at 4 o'clock, he
will have a special sermon for the
children. Mr. Smith is a very inter
esting preacher and his many friends

Beware
of ointments offered as
“just as good as Resinol”
If you have any skin trouble, you want
Resinol. You want it because you have
known about it for years, because your
friends and neighbors have used it success
fully, and because you know that physicians
have prescribed it for nineteen year* in the
treatment of eczema, rashes, ringworm,
pimples and other distressing eruption*.
"You do not want a “substitute” or some
thing that a dealer tells you is “just as
good as Resinol.” You do not want it
because you know nothing of its value.
It has nobody’s endorsement and for all
you can tell it never did anyone any good
at all. If a dealer tries to force a “sub
stitute” on you, it is for a very good
reason of his own —read about it in the
next column.
