Augusta Was Defeated in An
Errorless Game Yesterday By
Columbia—Score 1 to 0.

Columbia, S. C. —Augusta, was de
feated in a splendid game here yester
day afternoon. It was a pitchers' bat
tle between Winchell and Neyenhouse
and both slabmen did splendid work.
Winchell replaced Green in the third
inning, as the latter was taken 6ick.
The game was played without an er
ror by either side.
Here is how it happened:
FIRST INNING.
Burgess, first man up for Augusta,
was given a base on balls. Norcott
flew out to center. Clark flew out to
second. Burgess died trying to pilfer
second.
Eberts singled to left on the first
hall pitched. Finnegan attempted to
sacrifice and bunted to Neyenhouse
.who nailed Eberts at second. Finne
gan was safe at first on a fielder’s
choice. He went to second on Har
bison’s single to left. Osteen flew out
to Burgess. Betzel grounded to short
and Harbison was forced at second.
SECOND INNING.
Ashby singled over second. Sabrie
bunted down the first base line and
was out at the first station, Ashby
going to second. Kelly Walked.
Brouthers flew out to center and Ash
by was doubled at second.
Ezell flew out to center. Holland
died on a grounded from third to
first. Braun also hit to third and was
out at first.
THIRD INNING.
Winchell went into the box for Co
lumbia, Green having been taken sick.
Wheat singled to center. Neyen
house attempted to sacrifice, but
lorced Wheat at second, Neyenhouse
being safe at first. Burgess skied to
center. Norcott singled to left and
Neyenhouse went to second. Crallt
died on a line drive to left.
Winchell hit safe to left field for
two sacks, but died trying to stretch
the hit into a triple. Eberts flew out
to third. Finnegan flew out to Nor
cott.
FOURTH INNING.
Ashby flew out to left. Sabrie died
on a line drive to left. Kelly was out
on a grounder, short to first.
Harbison doubled to left. Osteen
walked. Betzel was hit by the pitcher,
lilling the bases. Ezell was out on a
grounder from third to first, Harbi
: on scoring, Osteen going to third and
Betzel to second. Holland walked
end the bases vere r’ain full. Braun
fanned. Winchell fouled out to the
catcher. Neyenhouse gave a splendid
exhibition of getting out of hole.
FIFTH INNING.
Brouthers singled i ast third. Wheat
fanned. Neyenhouse hit to the pitch
er who threw him out at first, Brt •
ihers being safe at second. Burgess
flew out to Harbison.
Eberts bunted in front of the plate
and was out at first. Finnegan flew
out to left. Harbison hit a foul fly
which Brouthers captured.
SIXTH INNING.
Norcott grounded to Finnegan who
threw him out at first. Clark flew
out to center. Ashby singled to left
but died trying to pilfer second.
Osteen was out via the Clark-Sabrle
route. Betzel -v'seed a single to right
r-nd Ezell followed with a rap to left
for one ‘bag which sent Betzel to
second. Holland popped out to sec
ond. Braun lifted a fly to Ashby.
SEVENH INNING.
Sabrie died, short to first. Kelly
fanned. Brouthers singled to left,
but Wheat ended all chances by fly
ing out to right.
Winchell out, Clark to Sabrie.
Eberts walked. With Finnegan up
Eberts steals second. On Finnegan’s
out, second to first, Eberts took third.’
With Harbison at bat Eberts tried to
steal home but was out at the plate.
EIGHTH INNING.
Neyenhouse was called out on
strikes. Burgess grounded to the
pitcher and died at first. Norcott
flew out to left.
Harbison died on a liner to Kelly.
Osteen skied to center. Betzel sin
gled to left. He stole second. Ezell
flew out to left.
NINTH INNING.
Clark grounded to second and was
out at the first station. Ashby went
out on a grounder, pitcher to first.
Sabrie out to left.

victory over the locals in the second
of the series here yesterday. The

terday's game In the eighth by heavy
hitting. Albany came hack with some
loose fielding and pitching in the
ninth, Macon making throe runs and
copping the game by the score of 7
to 0.
Manugor Stinson was fined $5 In
the first Inning, and was chased from
the grounds. Vlllazon was invincible
until the Beventh.
