Carried Conductor to Latter Place Where He is Under Treatment for Injuriec. A pasgpnger train on the Savannah &. Northwestern Railroad was wreck 0$ last night, between Waynesboro M<s St Clair and several members of the crew Injured. It In understood that unknown persons rut a Joint In one of the rails over the small trestle and the train was turned over, Injur ing the conductor to such extent that ITM.IMV MURDER VERY COMPLEX Roma. —ltalian popular Interest now centers on the approaching trial of the Couness Tlepclo-Ogglonl for the mur der of her liuaband's orderly. Mystery still surrounds the relations between this woman of noble birth and the soldier abe slew. As the Countess tells the story, how ever the tragedy Is a simple one. with the simplicity of an ancient Onek tragedy. The Con ness's husband a captain in the army- had an orderly, a tall, handsome lad of about 22, nam ed Qulntillo i’olimente. It scema that he considered himself of fatal attrac tion lo womankind, and he was forever boasting to his companions of his con quests and affairs. According lo the Countess Pollmenteapparently thought that his good looks, which had proved irresistible in so many cases, also had told with his master's wife. The conquest of the Countess Tlc polo-Oggjonl was something lo boast about' For not nnoly had she rank and position, bill she was an ex tremely beautiful woman, although older than Iho young man, .and ihe mother of two children. Prisoner's Tale. At any rate—such Is Ihe prisoner's tale —Pollmente thought he had made a deep Impression on his mistress; he presumed on Ihe Counl's favor lo ho familiar with the Countess, nod he tolrl his friends according (o evidence that has been ohtalnedl that sho had not rejected his advances. Then, one afternoon, ns the Countess was packing In her room In her hus band's flat at San Iterno to go to I’ar ma for change of air, he burst In fie endeavored to embrace her; she re pulsed him and managed to get him out of the room and lock ihe door By n subterfuge he effected an entrance once again, and In the struggle that ensued, the Countess seized her hus band's revolver and fired. The shot was only Intended to frighten I’oll mente, hut Instead of that It killed him, for the bullet struck him at base of the nose and went straight through his head. The young orderly crashed to the floor like a log dead. Empty. The flat was empty save for the dead man and herself, and as soon aa she realized what she )©il done Ihe woman fled lo nelgbhors whom she told. "I have killed my husband’s or derly In defence of my honor and my children." ll is alleged, however, that there Is another side to Ihe case. Investiga tion. It Is said, has shown that Poll* meets was In possession of a portrait medallion of the Countess, and that letters have been found, which, If gen ulne, might prove that considerable intimacy existed between the pair. It Is here that some people bring In a shadowy third personage the Count ess's husband. They allege, that fear ful of her Intimacy with Pollmente becoming known to him, the Countess tried to bresk off her relations with .orderly. His vanity and self-esteem wound ed by her action, Pollmente threaten cned either a disclosure or blackmail (such Is the story), and hence the tragedy NAT'L BUREAU LABOR EXCHANGE —of .
