THE ISSUANCE. SECURITY AND
SALE OF SEVEN HUNDRED AND

The City Council of Augusta hereby or
dnlns:—
Section 1 That on the first day of
June, 1914. there shall be. held In this
City an election under the registry l'st
made up under an ordinance adopted
March 2nd. 1914, and approved March
3rd. 1,914. entitled "An ordinance to pro
vide for the registration of voters for
an election or elections to be held to dc
’ermine upon the ssuance of bonds and
for other purposes, ** and tinder the ex
isting laws for election for Mayor and
Members of Council, except fts modified
by this ordinance, to determine upon
the issuance of bonds provided for n
this ordinance Notice of such election
be published in The Augusta Her
the newspaper in which the Sheriffs
advertisements for the County Richmond
are published for thirty days next, pre
ceding the day of election notifying the
qualified voties of Augusta that on the
first day of June, 1914. an election wU
be held to determine the question wheth
er the bonds provided for by this ordi
nance sbnll be issued. Hurl) notice shall
specify what amount of bonds are to be
issued, for what purpose, what interest
they are to bear, how much principal
and Interest to be paid annually and
when to be fully paid off. All persons
voting at such election in favor of tire
issuance of such bonds shall have writ
ten or printed on their ballots the words

words “Against bonds for th® purpose of
protection against floods.”
Feet ion 2 Should the ssuance of such
bonds be assented to by two-thirds of
the qualified voters of Augusta arid
should such amount of I onda be ascer
tained to be within the limit of bonds
authorised to be Issued, under the Con
stitutional Amendment ns hereinafter
fully set forth, there shall be authorised
to-be issued and sold by The City Coun
cil of Augusta under the provisions of
Ih:s ordinance Seven Hundred and Fifty
Thousand Dollars <5750,000) principal
amount of bonds, the proceeds of which
shall be known as "City of Augusta
Flood Protection Ronds of 1914,*' shall he
of the denomination of One Thousand
Dollars (s,iooo> each, shall boar date Ui«
first day of July, nineteen hundred and
fourteen <l9lO. shall be payable ns to
the principal amount thirty years after
date, shall bon interest at the rat® of
four and one-half per centum <4% per
cent.) per annum, payable semi-annual
ly on th® first days of January and of
July of eacli year, such Interest to he
represented by coupons attached to said

National Rank. New York City. Such
bonds shall before Issuance be validated
as provided by law.

be issued under and by virtue of the an

poration or political division of this

qualified voters thereof nt an election
