Notice la hereby given in accordance with the provisions of the following Or dinance that the election therein pro vided for, will be held In Augusta, ' Georgia, on the first day of June, 1914, j for the purpose and upon the terms and conditions ;n such Ordinance fully set forth: AN ORDINANCE: TO PROVIDE FOR THE ISSUANCE, SECURITY AND SAL K OF SEVEN HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS fs?&<».- 000) OF BONDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROTECTION AGAINST FLOOD. The City Council of Augusta hereby or dains:— Section 1 That on the first day of June, 1914. there shall 1 e held In this City an election under the registry Ist made up under an ordinance adopted March 2nd. 1011. and approved March 3rd 1014, enticed "An ordinance to pro vide for the registration of voters for an election or elections to be held to de termine upon the Issuance of bonds and for other purposes.' and under the ex isting laws for election for Mayor and Members of Council, except ris modified bv this ordinance, to determine upon the Issuance of bonds provided for In this ordinance Notice of such election shall he published in The Augusta Her ald, the newspaper In which the Sheriff's advertisements for the County Richmond /ire published for thirty days next, pre ceding the dav of ejection notifying the qualified voters of Augusta that on the first day of June, 1014. an election wi t he held to determine the question wheth er the bonds provided for by this ordi nance shall be Issued. Such notice shall specify what amount of boride are to he Issued, for what purpose, what Interest thev are to hear, how much principal and Interest to be paid annually and when to be fully pa d off. All persons voting at such election In favor of the Issuance of such bonds shall have writ ten or printed on their ballots the words "For bonds for the purpose of protection against floods " and all persons opposed to the Issuance of such bonds shall have written or printed on their ballots the words "Against bonds for the purpose of protection against floods." Paction 2- Should the issuance of such bonds be assented to by two-thirds of the qualified voters of Augusta and should such amount of bonds lie ascer tained to he within the limit of bonds authorized to he Issued, under the Con stitutional 'Amendment as hereinafter fully set forth there shall he authorised to be Issued and sold hy The City Coun cil of Augusta under the provisions of this ordinance Seven Hundred and Flftv Thousand Dollars ($750,000) principal amount of bonds, the proceeds 'of which shall he used for the purpose of pro tection against floods. Such bonds shall he known ns "City of Augusta Flood Protection Bonds of 1014," shall he of the denomination of One Thousand Dollars ($.1000) each, shall bear date the first day of July, nineteen hundred and fourteen (1014), shall lie payable as to the principal amount thirty years after date, shall bear Interest at the rate of four and one-half per centum (4% per cent ) per annum, payable semi annual ly on the first days of January and of July of each year, such interest to he refTesented hy coupons attached to said hoods, each coupon being for the sum of Twentv-two and 60-100 Dollars ($22.50)), shall be numbered from one thousand and one (1,001) to one thousand, seven hundred and fifty (1,750). both Inclusive, shall he llgthogr.iphed or engraved, shall he signed by the Mayor of Augusta, countersigned by the Clerk of Council, and have the Corporate Seal of the C tv affixed thereto, and the coupons shall bear the lithographed or engTsived sig nature of the present Clerk of Council.
