New York.—The stork exchange today officially announced the default of semi annual interest payment on the four per cent gold bonds of the Chicago, Rock is land and Pacific Railroad Company and the general lino 5 per cent bonds of the St. Louis and San Francisco Railroad Company. The Frisco is in the hands of receivers and the affairs of the Rock Island sys tem are admittedly precarious. The prices of both of these issues for some time past have pointed to suspension of interest payment and the notice issued by the exchange was chiefly in keeping with legal requirements. It is expected that the report of the export, Recently engaged by the bond holders’ committee of the Rock Island Company will be submitted shortly. On this report hinges the future financing of the road.
